<br />121 Commissioner J. Arneson shared that he liked the idea of a name that is more nature oriented. <br />122 <br />123 Chair Matts-Benson shared that Honey “Bee” Park could be a play on words as the park is <br />124 located on County Road B. The Commission discussed that it would be nice to incorporate bee’s <br />125 into the park design and that may be hard as the park plan has already been finalized. <br />126 <br />127 Commissioner Raygor shared that she liked the name Sunset Park. <br />128 <br />129 Commissioner Boulton asked if the Dakota people were the indigenous group that originally <br />130 inhabited the park area. Chair Matts-Benson relayed that she would research this questions. <br />131 <br />132 The Commission discussed additional possible name options to add to the list of <br />133 recommendations, including Hidden Hills, Oak Hills, Western, West End, and Old Oak Park. <br />134 <br />135 Staff conveyed that the two existing oak trees may potentially not survive due to construction of <br />136 the new development. <br />137 <br />138 The Commission engaged in an activity where they placed stickers on their preferred park names <br />139 in order to narrow down the list of recommendations. <br />140 <br />141 Staff agreed to consolidate and distribute the narrowed-down list of recommended names, and <br />142 the Commission agreed to discuss the reduced list of name options at the next meeting. <br />143 <br />144 5.OTHER BUSINESS <br />145 a)DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES <br />146 The Earth Day Celebration at the Harriet Alexander Nature Center was held on April 20. <br />147 New educational activities included house plant bingo, ponding at the marsh, and <br />148 presentations on pollinator gardens and healthy gardening. <br />149 The annual Figure Skating Ice Show was held on April 18-20. <br />150 Kite Day in the Park was held at Rosebrook Park on April 27. Over 100 kids participated in <br />151 this free event. <br />152 The following events have begun or will begin this week: <br />153 o Adult softball leagues <br />154 o Adult volleyball leagues <br />155 o Youth outdoor kicker-slugger camps <br />156 Designer Handbag Bingo at Cedarholm Community Building on May 11, 2024 (1:00 <br />157 PM). <br />158 The Roseville School of Dance recital will be on May 18, 19, 2024 at Roseville <br />159 Area High School. <br />160 The Lexington Park playground replacement request for proposal has been released. <br />161 Additional details will be shared with the Commission at an upcoming meeting. <br />162 A forestry update was provided to the City Council at their April 15, 2024 meeting. <br />4 <br />Qbhf!7!pg!48 <br /> <br />
