Arneson asked if the large oak trees are located on park property. Staff replied <br />that they are on private property. <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the results of the namevoting activity and the potential of requesting <br />community input on the top name suggestions. They agreed that the name Sunset Park fulfills the <br />City’s 'Operating Policy #40 –Assigning Names to City Facilities.' <br />Commissioner J. Arneson moved to recommendthe name Sunset Park to the City <br />Council for the new park located at 2381 County Road B. Commissioner Brown <br />seconded. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: A. Arneson, J. Arneson, Beckman, Boulton, Brown, Dahlstrom, Kooistra, Penny. <br />Nays: None. <br />Abstain: None. <br /> <br />b) DISCUSS POSSIBLE PARKS AND RECREATION NEEDS ASSESSMENT <br />Staff relayed that a parks and recreation needs assessment is a tool that communities use to <br />measure community satisfaction with Parks and Recreation service offerings, and to develop an <br />understanding of current community needs. In addition, a needs assessment could be used as a <br />tool in updating the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan. <br />Assessment Overview <br /> Tool used to determine the current and future needs of the Parks and Recreation system. <br /> Typically provides data on: <br />o Resident satisfaction with current offerings <br />o Identify community needs and priority <br />o Typically paired with other trends analysis and community data <br />Needs <br /> Last needs assessment was completed in 2011 <br /> Changes in environment since <br />o Increased diversity <br />o Changes in approaches to equity <br />o COVID-19 <br /> Determine future needs for underdeveloped parcels <br /> Broad range of potential methodology <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
