Equity and Inclusion Commission Minutes <br />October 16, 2024 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />48 Commissioner LaGrange explained that her mom and aunt from southern Indiana visitedduring <br />49 the summer. <br />50 <br />51 Commissioner Chan indicated that a bunch of his pickleball friends also became hiking friends, <br />52 and they all went to Superior, Wisconsin, and hiked the Wisconsin and Minnesota State Parks. <br />53 <br />54 Mr. Montez indicated his family got to go to Kansas City for a soccer tournament. <br />55 <br />56 Mr. Montez went through the New Commissioner orientation presentation and asked the <br />57 Commission if there were any questions. <br />58 <br />59 Commissioner Vemireddy indicated he would like to dive deeply into the City Departmentand <br />60 how each functions. He thought each department manager could come in and talk about what <br />61 their department does. <br />62 <br />63 Commissioner Chen thought this information could also be found on the website, freeing up <br />64 meeting time for their work. <br />65 <br />66 Mr. Montez thought the website contained lots of information, and he could view information <br />67 from other meetings. Chair and Vice Chair Elections <br />70 <br />71 Equity and Inclusion Manager Montezexplained the Commission's Chair and Vice Chair roles. <br />72 He asked for nominations for these Commission Chair. <br />73 <br />74 Commissioner Chan nominated Youth Commissioners Goedken and Barz for Chair and Vice- <br />75 Chair of the Commission. <br />76 <br />77 Mr. Montez asked Youth Commissioner Barz if she would like to be Chair of the Commission. <br />78 <br />79 Youth Commissioner Barz indicated she would like to decline but might consider this. <br />80 <br />81 Mr. Montez asked Youth Commissioner Goedken if she would like to be Chair of the <br />82 Commission. <br />83 <br />84 Youth Commissioner Goedken asked what the Vice-Chair does. <br />85 <br />86 Mr. Montez reviewed the position of the Vice-Chair. <br />87 <br />88 Youth Commissioner Barz indicated after some thought she would accept the nomination as <br />89 Chair. <br />90 <br />91 Youth Commissioner Goedken indicated she would accept the Vice-Chair position. <br />92 <br />Qbhf!222!pg!354 <br /> <br />
