Design and estimates are being <br />developed for further discussion. <br />Engineering Updates: <br />• Noelle Bakken and Jennifer Lowry attended an Active Transportation Summit hosted by <br />MnDOT in Richfield, MN, which included presentations and case studies on different <br />types traffic calming designs, funding mechanisms, and walking and cycling tours of <br />Richfield's recently installed bike and pedestrian infrastructure. <br />• Jennifer Lowry will attend the Minnesota Transportation Conference March 19-21. <br />• Staff is preparing a grant application for Met Council's new Equity -Focused Water <br />Efficiency Grant Pilot Program. <br />• 5 interns have been hired for the summer season. <br />• Phase 5 of vacating unused ROW is kicking off with mailers to impacted properties. <br />Sustainability Updates: <br />• Green To Go ordinance implementation continues, and staff has met or spoken with 19 <br />businesses as of early March. We are also meeting quarterly with other metro cities with <br />packaging ordinances to discuss challenges, updates, and regulatory changes, including <br />the upcoming state law that will require all compostable packaging to be BPI certified and <br />labeled starting January 2026. <br />• Staff partnered with local group Resilient Roseville to give a presentation on "Nurturing <br />Resilience, Optimism, and Hope in the face of Climate Change" on Sunday, February 23, <br />2025, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Autumn Grove Park building. 15 residents were in <br />attendance. <br />• Staff is working with three undergraduate students from the University of Minnesota, who <br />will be researching best practices with lighting and Dark Sky -related code language, as <br />well as developing recommendations for residents to update their exterior lighting. The <br />students will be presenting their findings in late April and may also bring their findings to <br />the commission. <br />• Staff has gathered multiple proposals from consultants to assist with our climate action <br />planning process and plans to retain a consultant starting in late April to begin working on <br />our plan. <br />Maintenance Updates: <br />• Road Restrictions in effect March 3, 2025 <br />• Street and Storm <br />o Winter tree trimming completed. <br />PWET Communications Memo Page 3 <br />Page 18 of 72 <br />
