Attachment 2
PROGRAM SNAPSHOT
Although participation can fluctuate year to year, dance participation has been on a consistent
upward trend since 2019.

Youth Dance:
219 unique participants (60% Roseville residents)
Many participate in multiple sessions per year
2024 Revenue: $51,458 | Expenses: $35,735
2025 Budget: Revenue $52,000 | Expenses $28,700
Classes run six daysper week during the school year and three or four days per week
during the summer months.
Adult Dance & Wellness:
107 total registrants (72% Roseville residents)
Includes Adult Hula (35 participants), Tap, and wellness-focused classes

RENTAL SPACE CONSIDERATION
While a suitable rental space may be found, it would likely be less functionally advantageous
than a purpose-built, City-owned facility. To effectively serve the program, anyrental space
would need to be significantly modified for dance including installation of a dance floor,
mirrors, bars, decent acoustics, and ideally, some sound proofing.

Additionally, the space would need to have some office space, restrooms, and room flow to
allow parents to drop participants off without interfering with the class. Finally, the space would
need to be conveniently located, have adequate parking, and have some assurance of continuity.

NEW SPACE CONSIDERATIONS
It is important to note that the desire for a new dance studio is based almost entirely on the loss
of the current dance studio location, not a desire for drastic upgrades. However, the construction
of a new space that is primarily for dance offers a number of opportunities and would certainly
be the most advantageous option for the dance program.

Higher Quality Dance Participant Experience: The current space is a retrofitted
commercial space that is undersized, has a challenging room layout (long and narrow),
and is not sufficiently soundproofed. Construction of new space provides an opportunity
to correct these issues and offer a higher quality experience for dancers. Specifically, it
is envisioned that a new space could allow for:
o Larger class sizes
o More class offerings
o The opportunity to add additional dance disciplines
o An opportunity for parents to observe their participants without disrupting class
and other participants.

Versatile Space for Other Activities: A city owned and designed space could be used
for other activities such as yoga/wellness, gathering/meeting space, music courses and
more. However, it is important to note that we should not design the space so broadly
that it no longer well-suits dance. Elements like mirrors, bars, and cushioned floors are
essential to dance and should not be sacrificed for versatility.

Page 2
Qbhf!61!pg!488
