Squad visits <br />Sustainability Tip — Recycling Updates <br />New items accepted in residential and <br />commercial recycling bins <br />Late last year, Waste Management (WM) <br />announced a new development in their <br />recycling operations: they now accept <br />plastic paper -lined hot and cold cups in <br />recycling bins. These are the cups you get <br />at most coffee shops, as well as soda/pop <br />cups from fast food restaurants. <br />WM can now recover the 3-dimensional cups <br />from the paper stream, and is able to recover <br />the fiber from the cups to send to mills across the country in their mixed paper bales. <br />When recycling hot or cold paper cups, remove and discard any lids or straws, <br />and then place the cup in your usual recycling container. <br />New items collected at the Environmental Center! <br />Between March 3 and April 30, Ramsey County residents can bring up to four <br />mattresses and box springs total and up to four metal bed frames to the <br />Environmental Center at no cost. Second Chance Recycling in Minneapolis will <br />recycle the mattresses and boxsprings and either reuse or recycle the metal bed <br />frames. Register and learn more: RamsevCountvMN.aov/Mattress <br />The Ramsey County Environmental Center is now collecting kitchen countertop <br />appliances like microwaves, blenders, coffee makers and more.
