VILLAGE OF ROSEVIUE

Regular Meeting of the Village Council, ITiday, December 8, 1961.

The Village Council met on the above date with the following
members present: Mayor CedarhoL~, Trustees Reinecke, Shields,
Flanagan and HcGee.

Reinecke Hoved, Flanagan Seconded, that the Minutes of the meeting
of December 1, 1961, be accepted as presented~ Roll Call, Ayes (5)
Nays (0).

Hr. Cameron Anderson, Chairman, of the Roseville \Ja,ter Study
Conmuttee, presented the following report:

The Roseville Water Study Co~~ittee, pursuant to the request of
the Village Council, has conducted extensive personal interviews
with various eJ~erts and has made an exhaustive detailed study
of available materials concerning the natter of a municipal water
system during the course of at least two and often three meetings
a week over a period of appro:{imately three months.

The Conw~ttee recow~ends, by a vote of eleven to zero, that a
municipal water system be established as soon as is practical and
that the construction thereof is financially feasible.

The Comm.ittee further recommends by a vote of seven to four that
the source of supply of water for aforesaid municipal water system
be a surface supply purchased from either Minneapolis or St. Paul.
The recorunendations as to the source of water was based, among
other, upon the follo,D_ng considerations:

1) A surface supply would be more dependable since doubt
exists in the mind of some authorities as to the long-
term adequacies of ground water.

2) Surface viater purchased from either city .muld be of known
quality.

3) Authorities generally agree that lime soda softening as
obtained from either city appears more desirable than
other softening systems.

4) A less complex operation of a municipal water system
would be required. Maintenance costs would be pre-
dictable.

5) A surface water system would probably be a better water
system to integrate into a metropolitan water system
at a later date.

8:00 P.B.

J:.lQNUTES

VJATEH STUDY
COl-:JHI T'l'EE
PEPORT
