MR. EUGENE SCHWANKER, 2895 N. Sheldon: Wanted to know
if the improvement would be voted on and6 if so, by whom. Also
."ed what would happen to the swamp directly west of Foodtown.
He said there is a high point at Centennial Drive about 8 feet
above grade on Hamline Avenue so that the water runs east instead
of west. If this crest was taken off and the water woald run
west instead of east, and then into the swamp, he thought
possibly the storm sewer for that area could be eliminated.

MR. LESLIE BAKER, 2820 Merrill: Opposed to the improvement
as presently proposed because it will primarily benefit the
commercial property located on either side of Hamline Avenue.
ASked that the Council take action to amend the proposal to take
care of only the primary troUble spots and, therefore, cut down
the overall cost.

MR. BARRY PETERSON, 2726 Merrill: Wanted to know if the
pond on County Road C was pUblicly or privately owned. Said he
is basically opposed to the improvement because it is of no
benefit to him. Asked the Council to take into consideration
the aesthetic values of the pond. Sees no necessity for elimi-
nating the pond. Also felt that the commercial property would
benefit much more than he. Opposed to the improvement. Believes
the whole area is being assessed for the benefit of the Hamline
Shopping Center.

MR. W. H. KELLEY. representing the owners of the Hamline
Shopping Center: In favor of the improvement.

MR. PETER ALLAN, 1240 Josephine Road: suggested that the
village buy a piece of land on Hamline Avenue and make a pond out
of it. Also said to drill a couple of holes in the driveway to
get rid of most of the water.

MR. EUGENE SCawANKER, 2895 N. Sheldon (spoke before):
Opposed to the improvement. Suggested that the Council find a
way to relieve the situation at less cost to the present home
owners that are opposed to the improvement. Wanted to know what
the effect would be on Lake Josephine by draining the stor.m
water into the lake.

MR. RICHARD FLESHER, 2774 Huron: Has no drainage problems.
The water was in the area before the shopping center was con-
structed and he considered it bad siting on their part. Where
the property is now zoned for residential, the drainage would
make high density construction possible. Also concerned about
