-4...

Mrs. Lucille Eng, 2213 Midlothian: (Not in the improvement area).
Asked why the lights were proposed to be placed so close together at
150 feet when normally they're 3 or 4 times farther apart.

Mr. A, L, Lien, 1495 W. County Road B-2: He believed that the lighting
would increase the traffic because more people would use County Road
B-2 to get to the Rosedale Shopping Center.

Mr. Oscar Husby, 2400 North Pascal (Spoke before): If there are problems
of vandalism on the golf course, he suggested that lights be put on the
golf course, He further said that since the Council represents everyone
in the village, the people in this area should have the same rights as
a corporation like Dayton's.

Mr. Glenn Johnson, 1535 W. County Road B-2. (Spoke before): The west
side of Zimmerman Lake is a congregating area for the younger generation
and if the Council lights the area he was sure this would happen quite
often. He and his neighbors hope the Council will drop the project.

Mr. Thomas Hold (1), 1357 W. County Road B-2: While he is not opposed
to ligh ting in general, he is opposed to the maj or lighting as proposed.
He &aid if there has to be lighting he thought it should be that type
that should be used in a residential area rather than the type that
would be used on a highway. He felt it should be something that would
add to a residential area rather than detract from it.

Mr. Matt R. Ruohoniemi, 1477 W. County Road B-2 (Spoke before): Asked for
an expression by the representative of Northern States Power Company as to
what type of lights might be used that would be more architecturally
satisfactory that the super highway type lights that are proposed.

Mr. Oscar Husby, 2400 North Pascal (Spoke before): Said he didn't think
he would object to having lights put at corners or intersections as has
normally been done in residential areas.

Mr. Hans Ita, 1389 West County Road B-2: Said he feels it hard to believe
that the only two justifiable reasons for putting the lighting in were to
protect the pedestrians or to floodlight the golf course. He also
suggested that some ornamental house lighting should be considered for
the people who might want to walk at night rather than using the large
proposed lights that would add to the traffic.

Mrs. Halbert L. Wall, 1758 Bruce: Lives north of the Rosedale Shopping
Center and indicated that they have plenty of !igh t from the shopping
center now, When it was explained that in her neighborhood there would
only be a light at the intersection of Fairview and County Road B.2, a
light at the intersection of the access road to the shopping center and
one additional light in that area, she said she thought that probably
was all right.

After a discussion of the views presented, the Mayor closed the hearing.

Curley tvloved, Grauel Seconded, that the plan on the Ornamental Street
Lighting. Improvement P-70-9, be approved; and that the plans and
specifications be prepared for that section of County Road B-2 west
of Snelling to Cleveland, and that Resolution No. 5413 ordering the
construction of Improvement No. P-70-9 under and pursuant to Minnesota
Statutes, Chapter 429 be adopted. Roll Call, Ayes: Curley, Grauel,
Linebarger and Moll. Nays: None. Abstention: Anderson.

RESOLUTI ON
NO. 5413
