there's a real nice wooded area back there. With real
estate the way it's going and increased developments,
it's really subject to question whether putting a
road beside your house increases the value of your
property to you yourself. Legally and taxwise it
might, but it's difficult for us to understand that.

I think the other point is, unless I have an estimate -
a rough estimate of how much it will cost us, it would
seem the total cost of the project - about $130,000,
and if you take out from that a few thousand dollars -
and I'm guessing - I don't know - let's say mine was
$1,000 - you'd be taking $3,000 or $4,000 out of a pro-
ject that cost $130,000 in assessing the three people
who live at that point where the area is (inaudible).
We don't object to the development, but only the
possibility we would be assessed for other people
who live there (inaudible).

MR. HONCHELL: May I speak to (inaudible) from
whether you feel it's correct to be assessed or not.
One of the reasons for proposing the construction of
Fernwood is because Brooks comes in from Lexington -
dead ends - has no cul-ds-sac. Our procedure is that
we have a cul-de-sac or we loop these for fire, police
protection, etc. The same thing on the new proposal.
If it only went to Brooks it would only have that one
means (inaudible) and Fernwood is a platted street.
It was proposed for that purpose. I don't know how to
answer you except you were very fortunate that you
did have that nice woods hack there. The assessments
are entirely different. I understand your feeling
on that and it's a case if the improvement was done
the Council would have to make a decision on that at
a special hearing. But the reason for the roadway
is to connect all the circulation links and complete
the plat as it was envisioned when it was built.

~mYOR DEMOS: The assessment hearing will probably
be a year from next fall and at that time you could
plead your case on assessments.

MRS. JOHN ROSE, 1211 Brooks: (inaudible) is curb
and gutter a common thing? We don't have them in our
a rea.

5
