<br />camp and designed chiefly for the use and convenience of the <br />traveling publ3,c, and/or land used for camping purposes by <br />automobile transients. <br />YARD: <br />An open space on the same lot with a building, unoccupied <br />and unobstructed from the ground upward except as other- <br />wise rrovided herein. <br />YARD, FRONT: <br />A yard extending across the width of the lot and measured <br />from the front line of the lot to the nearest line of the <br />building. <br />YARD, SIDE: <br />A yard on each side of the building between the building and <br />the side line of the lot and extending from the front yard to <br />the rear yard. <br />SECTION 12 <br />ADMINISTRATION <br />(a) Except as otherwise provided in this Section, the lawful use <br />oP any land or building existing at the time of the adoption of this <br />plan may be continued, although Much use does not conform to the regu- <br />lations specified by this plan for the district in which such land or <br />building is located; provided, however, that na such non-conforming use <br />of land shall be enlarged or increased, nor shall any Such non-conforming <br />use be extended to occupy a greater area of land than that occupied by <br />such use at the time of the adoption of this plan; nor shall any such <br />non-conforming use be moved to any other part of the parcel of land upon <br />which the same was conducted at the time oP the adoption of this plan. <br />A non-conforming use of a building existing at the time of the adoption <br />of this plan may be extended throughout the building, provided no struc- <br />tural alterations except those required by ordinance, law, or other regu- <br />lations are made thexein. If such non-conforming use consists of a <br />substantial building and ceases for a continuous period of two year8, <br />any subsequent use of said building shall be in conformity to the regu- <br />lations specified by this plan for the district in which such building <br />is located; however, if any non-conforming use of land on which there <br />are no substantial buildings ceases for any reasonable length of time, <br />any subsequent use of such land shall be in conformity to regulations <br />specified by this plan for the district in r~,rhich such land is located. <br />(b) Any building which does not conform to the use and height <br />district in which it is located shall not be rebuilt or reconstructed <br />to its former use and physical dimensions if damaged 50°0 or more by <br />fire, wind, earthquake or explosion according to the estimate of the <br />building inspector and accepted by the council. <br />(c) Public utility buildings to be used for purposes of rendering <br />service to the community and not for warehouse purposes, or for the <br />storage of bulky materials, when the governing body of the member unit <br />in which located shall deem them to be clearly necessary for the public <br />
