<br />ORDINANCE NO. 142 <br /> <br />85 <br /> <br />AN ORDn~ANCE REGULATING AND PBOVIDI!~G FOR THE INSPECTION OF THE INSTALLATION AND <br />MAINTENANCE IN BUILDING OF ELECTRIC WIRING, ELECTRIC DEVICES AND ELECTRIC <br />MATERIAL, CREATDlG THE OFFICE OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR, AND FIXING THE PENALTY <br />OOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. <br /> <br />The Village Council of Roseville ordains as follows: <br />SECT ION 1 <br /> <br />Electrical Inspector. There is hereby created the position of electrical <br />inspector who shall be appointed. by the Council. The person appointed to said. <br />position shall be a competent electrician who shall have had at least two years' <br />experience as a master or journeyman in the practice of his trade or two years' <br />training in a recognized college of electrical engineering, shall be well <br />versed in approved methods of electrical construction for safety of life and <br />property, the statutes of the State of Minnesota relating to electrical work, <br />the rules and regulations issued by the Industrial Commission of Minnesota and <br />the Railroad and Warehouse Commission of Minnesota under authority of the <br />statutes, the National Electrical Code, as approved by the American Engineering <br />Standards Committee, and the National Electrical Safety Code, as approved by <br />the American Engineering Standards Committee. <br /> <br />SECT ION 2 <br /> <br />Salary and Duties of Electrical Inspector. Sai~ electrical inspector <br />shall receive as compensation for his services one-h~lf of the fees collected <br />for electrical inspection, and he shall not engage in the business of the install- <br />ation and the maintenance of electric wiring, electric devices and electrical <br />material either directly or indirectly in this Village and he shall have no <br />financial interest in any concern engaged. in such business in thi s Village. <br /> <br />SECTION 3 <br /> <br />Inspection. The electrical inspector shall make a thorough inspection of <br />the installation in buildings of all electric wiring, electric devices and <br />electric materials now installed or that m~ hereafter be installed, within <br />thi s Village, and when the installation of a:n.y such wiring, devices or material <br />is found to be in a dangerous or unsafe condition he shall notify the person, <br />firm or corporation owning, using, operating or installing the same in writing <br />to place the installation of such wiring, d.evices and material in a safe con- <br />di tion and he shall immed.iately place a notice in a conspicuous place upon such <br />dangerous or unsafe wiring, devices and material stating that said wiring, devices <br />or material is unsafe and shall not be used until it is put in a safe condition <br />and. thereafter it shall be unlawful to use said wiring, devices and material un- <br />til it has been placed in a safe condition and has been inspected by said inspector. <br /> <br />SECTION 4 <br /> <br />Right to Access to Buildings. Said electrical inspector shall have the right <br />during reasonable hours to enter any building in the discharge of his duties for <br />the pur-pose of making any inspection or test of the installation of electric <br />wiring, electric devices and electric material contained therein, and shall have <br />the authority to cause the turning off of all electric currents and cut and <br />disconnect in cases of emergency any wire where such electrical currents are <br />dangerous to life or property or may interfere with the work of the Fire Department. <br /> <br />I <br />
