<br />15.1 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE No. 163 <br /> <br />that this draWing be made by the home office of the burner manufacturer but, <br />in lieu of this, drawing may be made by the local representative in which case <br />it must be certified by an officer of the manufacturer that it is approved b,y <br />them. <br /> <br />SECTION 3-18 INSPECTION AND TEST <br /> <br />At completion of installation the installer shall adjust all equipment <br />arid controls and, in the presence of the inspector, demonstrate the proper <br />functioning of all equipment and .controls throughout the normal range of <br />operation from minimum to maximum input. A combustion analysis shall be made <br />to demonstrate proper combustion results throughout the operating range. <br />Burners shall be able to demonstrate main burner flame retention without pilot <br />stabilization but pilot shall be used in all cases. <br /> <br />ARTICLE IV <br />SECTION 4-1 INCINERATORS, DOMESTIC OR PORTABLE TYPE <br /> <br />Portable or domestic incinerators or rubbish burners may be installed <br />and vented into the same flue with gas-fired boilers, furnaces or heating <br />devices providing the incinerator or rubbish burner installation conforms <br />to the following requirements: <br /> <br />(1) Incinerators, type and approval: Incinerators installed in <br />conjunction with gas space heating devices and venting into the <br />same flue <br />. (a) shall be designed with gas or constant electrical auxiliary <br />heating elements to facilitate the drying and combustion of <br />garbage. <br />(b) When gas fired shall conform to the Approval Requirement for <br />Domestic Gas Fired Incinerators ASA-Z2l.6-l949 and bear the <br />AGA label. <br />(c) When equipped with electric heaters shall conform to standards <br />established b,y Underwriters Laboratories and bear their label. <br />The general construction features shall meet the requirements <br />of the above standard for gas fired equipment. <br />(d) shall be approved by the Gas Inspector, subject to a fee <br />for approval of $25.00 payable with application. <br />(e) shall be equipped with approved spark arresters. <br />(f) shall be equipped with manufacturer's tag or name plate <br />permanently attached stating fuel for which unit is designed <br />and input rating. <br /> <br />(2) Venting The vent from the incinerator shall be connected to' a. <br />masonry flue by means of a smoke pipe constructed of metal suitable <br />for operation at 18000 F. temperature. Where such smoke pipe is <br />within 18" of combustible materials, such materials shall be <br />provided with i" fireproof insulation. <br /> <br />Where the masonry chimney is of Type A Underwriters construction <br />and is provided with a glazed tile flue liner or a vitrified bell <br />type flue liner installed with bells upward, of ample size for <br />the load of the incinerator in addition to other appliances connected <br />thereto but not less than 8" equivalent diameter, the metal flue <br />liner required elsewhere in this ordinance may be omitted. <br />
