<br />!'l. ).). <br /> <br />2-18 BUILDING DRAIN is that part of the lowest horizontal piping of a building <br />drainage system which receives the discharge from soil, waste, and other <br />drainage pipes inside the walls of any building and conveys the same to <br />the building sewer. <br /> <br />2-19 BUILDING LIlTS means the line, beyond which property owners or others have <br />no legal or vested right to extend a building or any part thereof 'Without <br />special permission and approval of the proper authorities. <br /> <br />2-20 BUILDING HL3PECTCR means the oi'ficer or other designated authority charged <br />vJi th the responsibility of enforcement of this code under the authority of <br />the governing body. <br /> <br />2-21 BUILDnTG SElVER is that part of the horizontal pJ_plng of a building-drain- <br />age systenl extending from the building drain to its connection 'With the main <br />sewer and conveying the water, liquid, and vlater-carried waste of but one <br />bu'lding. <br /> <br />2-22 CIRCUIT VENT Al\Jl) LOOP VENT is a pipe 'l'Thich vents a series of fixture traps <br />on the same soil or waste branch and which is continued through the roof or <br />reconnected into a vent stack above all fixture-t~ap branches. <br /> <br />2-23 CURB LEVEL is the level of the established curb in front of a building <br />measured at the center of such front. ~fuere no curb has been established, <br />the governing body n~y establish such curb level or its equivalent for the <br />purposes of this code. <br /> <br />2-21+ DEAD LOAD l;1eanS the v1l9ight of wEllls, partitions, floors, roofs, and all other <br />peTI~anent construction of a building. <br /> <br />2-25 DISPLAY SIGN means a structure that is arranged, intended, designed or used <br />as an advertisement, announcment or direction; and includes a. sign, sign <br />screen bill board and advertising devices of any kind. <br /> <br />2-26 IJIiJELLING means a building occupied exclusively for residence purposes and <br />having not more than two apartments, or as a boarding or rooming house <br />serving not more than fifteen (15) persons iuth meals or sleeping accommo- <br />dations or both. <br /> <br />2-2') FIRE DOOR means a door and its assembly so constructed and assembled in place <br />as to give the specified protection against the passage of fire. <br /> <br />2-28 FIRE PARTITION means a partition which subdivides a building to restrict the <br />spread of fire or to prmiide areas of refuge, but is not necessarily dontinuous <br />through all stories nor extended through the roof and has~:.a fire-resistance <br />rating of at least ti'fO hours. <br /> <br />2-29 FIRE RESISTANT RATING means the time in hours that the material or construction <br />will withstand the standard fire exposure as determined by a fire test made in <br />conformity with the "Standard :Hethods of Fire Tests of Building Construction <br />and Materials", A.S.T.M., E 119-50. <br /> <br />2-30 FIRE RETARDAJ.LT G'EILING means a ceiling construction which has been proved <br />by test as satisfactory for use as ceiling protection for a floor or roof <br />construet1on vn1ich has, a fire resistant rating of not less than one hour. <br /> <br />-8- <br />
