<br />229 <br /> <br />6-3 Any owner or buildar shall have the right of appeal to the govern- <br />ing body of the municipality relative to any decision made by any <br />inspector. All such appeals to the governing body shall be made <br />in writing and addressed to the Clerk of the municipality. <br /> <br />6-4 Until provision for permanent support has been made, excavations <br />shall be properly guarded and protected to prevent the same from <br />becoming dangerous to life or limb, and, where necessary, shall <br />be sheet-piled or braced to prevent the adjoining earth from caving <br />in, by the person causing the excavation to be made. <br /> <br />6-5 The person causing any excavation to be made shall prevent the move- <br />ment of earth in the adjoining property and the trees and natural <br />objects thereon or therein and maintain or restore all public side- <br />walks, curbs, pavements and the property of public utilities located <br />within the street line, which may be affected by the excavation. <br />This shall include any damage which might be caused to the surface <br />of the public street as a result of the loading or unloading of mach- <br />inery to be used in connection with the excavation for or the con- <br />struction of a building, the movement of such machinery on the aaid <br />surface of the street or the improper use of the edges of the driving <br />surface of the street and the boulevards adjacent thereto in the <br />delivery of building materials, <br /> <br />6-6 Foundation walls or other permanent supports shall be carried not <br />less than three (3) feet, six (6) inches below the grade of the ad- <br />joining ground, except when erected upon hardpan or solid rock, and <br />they shall rest on solid gnonnqbr on leveled rock, or on piles or <br />other suitable foundation, when solid earth or rock is not found. <br /> <br />6-7 Garages or other small buildings of frame construction used as acc- <br />essery buildings may be constructed on a concrete slab without foot- <br />ing. Slabs upon which such buildings are to be built shall conform <br />with the requirements of paragraph 6-9. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />6-8 Any accessory building such as a garage, utility, etc. connected, <br />attached or situated in such a way on the property as to make future <br />attachment possible, shall require footings of the same depth and <br />bearing as the building to which they are or may be attached. <br /> <br />6-9 Garage, terrace, porch and dwelling floors, where of concrete construc- <br />tion, without footing shall have a minimum thickness of four (4) inches. <br />These slabs shall be laid on a bed of gravel, cinders or other app- -- <br />roved material not less than four (4) inches thick. The bed may be <br />omitted if slab is properly reinforced. <br /> <br />6-10 Concrete slabs usea in driveways shall conform with the provisions <br />of paragraph 6-9. <br /> <br />6-11 An expansion joint shall be provided between driveway slab and con- <br />crete apron at garage door and in each driveway at intervals of not <br />more than thirty (30) feet. <br /> <br />-26- <br />
