<br />235 <br /> <br />and. 1\42.4-19.50), is hereby admped as part of jhis code and the requirements ~. <br />stated therein shall be considered as the minimum requirements fl7r gypsum <br />plastering, lathing and furring. <br /> <br />6-68 The publication entitled "Standard Specifications for Portland Cement <br />Stucco and Portland Cement Plastering including requirements for Lath- <br />ing and Furring" (A.S.A. designation 1\42.2-1946 and 1\42.3-1946) is <br />hereby adopted as part of this code and the requirements stated <br />therein shall be considered as the minimwm requirements for Port- <br />land Cement stuccoing, Portland Cement plastering, Lathing and <br />furring. <br /> <br />6-69 Plaster on wire or metal lath shall be three (3) coat work consis- <br />ting of a scratch coat, a brown or second coat, and a finished coat. <br />The finished coat may be omitted when the surface is covered with <br />~~et metal, wood wainscot, acoustical material, etc. The scratch coat <br />must be thoroughly set before the broUi.rJl coat is applied. <br /> <br />6-70 Stucco shall be held above ground surfaces and flashing carried over <br />openings, to pre.ent moisture from penetrating behind the stucCOj <br /> <br />6-71 Stucco shall consist of Portland Cement mortar or othe~ approved mortar, <br />an approved metal lath, concrete masonry, brick work or other approved <br />backine. <br /> <br />6-72 Nothing in this code relative to stucco or plaster shall preclude the <br />use of other materials and constructions meeting the same or equivalent <br />fire resistance rating. <br /> <br />6-73 The total glass area of rtqui:red windows in any habitable room shall not <br />be less than ten (10) per cent of the floor area of the room. <br /> <br />6-74 One-haldr (~) of the area of windows opening upon an open porch may be used <br />in computing the rqquired glass in the room in which they occur. <br /> <br />6-75 The total area of the ventilated portions of the required windows in any <br />habitable room shall not be less than four (4) percent of the floor area <br />of the room, except where a mechanical air change is provided. <br /> <br />6-76 A minimum height of eight (8) feet shall be required for the first <br />floor.
