<br />256 <br /> <br />INCINERATORS <br />DOMESTI C OR PORTABLE TYPE <br /> <br />~M243 Portable or domestic incinerators or rubbish burners may be installed and vent- <br />ed into the same fiue with gas-fired boilers, furnaces or heating devices pr,- <br />Tiding the incinerator or rubbish burner installation conforms to the following <br />requirements: <br />1 - Incinerators installed in conjunction with gas space heating devices and <br />venting into the same flue. <br /> <br />a. shall be designed with gas or constant electrical auxiliary heating <br />elements to facilitate the drying and c cmbustion of gargage. <br /> <br />b. when gas fired shall conform to the Approval Requirement for Domestic <br />Gas Fired Incinerators ASA-Z21.6-l949 and bear the AGA label. <br /> <br />c. when equipped with electric heaters shall conform to standards <br />established by Underwriter's Laboratories and bear their label. The <br />general construction features shall Eet the requirements of the above <br />standard for gas fired equipment. <br /> <br />d. shall be approved by the Heating Iupector, subject to a fee for approval <br />of $25.00 payable with application. <br /> <br />e. shall be equipped with manufacturer I s tag or name plate permanently <br />attached stating fuel for which unit is designed and input rating. <br /> <br />2 -. The vent from the incinerator shall be conne cted to a masonry fiue by maans <br />of a smoke pipe constructed of metal suitable fO,: operation in 18000 F. <br />temperature. Where such smoke pipe is wi thin 18 of combustible materials, ~ <br />such materials shall be provided with it! fireproof. insulation. <br />Where the masonry chimney is of Type A Underwriters construction and is <br />provided with a glazed tile fiue liner or a vitrified bell type flue liner <br />installed with bells upward, of ample size for the load of the incinerator <br />in addition to other appliances connected thereto but not less than 8" <br />equivalent diameter, the metal flue liner required elsewhere in this code <br />may be omitted. . <br />Where the masonry fiues are not provided with tile fiue liners as i>ove <br />described, then the fiue shall be provided with flue liner constructed of <br />materials approved for operation with temperatures of 1200oF., this liner <br />to recei veft the vents from 'the incinerator and other devices and to be <br />sized for the total load. <br /> <br />SECT! ON SEVEN <br />MATERIAL~ <br /> <br />7-1 All building materials shall be of the quality to meet the intent of this code, <br />and shall be new or approved equal by the governing body 6J6ttile municipality. <br />in case there is reason to d oubtttheequali ty of a material to be used in a <br />building or structure, the governing body may re~uire tests to be made to establish <br />its suitability, or to determine whether it conforms to the intent of this code. <br /> <br />7 -2 The provisions of this code are not intended to prevent the use of any material <br />or methocl of construdtion not specifiully preacribed by this code providing any <br />such alternate has been approved. - <br />-53- <br />
