.-.' 254 7-3 The governing body may approve any such alternate provided that the pro- posed design,d:'s satisfactory and that the material and mathcxt or work offered is, for the purpose intended, at least the equivalent of that prescribed in this code in quality, strength, effectiveness, fire-resis- tance, durability and safety. The governing body shall require that sufficient evidence 0'1 proof be submitHd to substantiate any claims that may be made regarding its use. 7-4 All tests of material shall be conducted. under the supervision of the particular inspector responsible for the installation of that type of material, except that duly authenticated test$~;bp a competent person or labratory may be accepted by him in lieu of tests under his own super- vision. 7 -5 Mat;erials or methods of constl'\lction. which have been tested and approved shall be used and installed in accordance of the terms of approval. 7-'1 The governing body may require tests to be repeated, if at any time there is reason to believe that a material no longer conforms to the requirements on which its approval was based. 7-6 So far as practicable, materials for which special approvals have been issued shall have a distinctiVe brand mark or label for. identification impressed on or otherwise attached to them. It shall be unlawful to use any such brand mark or label on any other material than that for which the ap'roval was issued. 7-8 Insulation materiali shall be passed upon by the Fire Underwriters. 7-9 Stucco on the outside of frame buildings shall be on m.etallath weiibing not less than .3.4 pounds per square yard, and any other plaster base shall not be permitted. 7-10wNo paper of any kind shall be used for the permanent outside covering of any building. 7-11 All building materials shall be of good quality, conforming to generally accepted standards. Except as otherwise provided by law, or in ibis code, the specifications of the American Society for Testing Materials shall be deemed to be generally accepted. 7-12 Aggregate for-~shall be of a quality. at least equal to that re- quired by ASTM Standard. Specifications for "Aggregte for Masonry Mortar" (C 144-52).
