<br />.-.' <br /> <br />254 <br /> <br />7-3 The governing body may approve any such alternate provided that the pro- <br />posed design,d:'s satisfactory and that the material and mathcxt or work <br />offered is, for the purpose intended, at least the equivalent of that <br />prescribed in this code in quality, strength, effectiveness, fire-resis- <br />tance, durability and safety. The governing body shall require that <br />sufficient evidence 0'1 proof be submitHd to substantiate any claims that <br />may be made regarding its use. <br /> <br />7-4 All tests of material shall be conducted. under the supervision of the <br />particular inspector responsible for the installation of that type of <br />material, except that duly authenticated test$~;bp a competent person or <br />labratory may be accepted by him in lieu of tests under his own super- <br />vision. <br /> <br />7 -5 Mat;erials or methods of constl'\lction. which have been tested and approved <br />shall be used and installed in accordance of the terms of approval. <br /> <br />7-'1 The governing body may require tests to be repeated, if at any time there <br />is reason to believe that a material no longer conforms to the requirements <br />on which its approval was based. <br /> <br />7-6 So far as practicable, materials for which special approvals have been <br />issued shall have a distinctiVe brand mark or label for. identification <br />impressed on or otherwise attached to them. It shall be unlawful to use <br />any such brand mark or label on any other material than that for which <br />the ap'roval was issued. <br /> <br />7-8 Insulation materiali shall be passed upon by the Fire Underwriters. <br /> <br />7-9 Stucco on the outside of frame buildings shall be on m.etallath weiibing <br />not less than .3.4 pounds per square yard, and any other plaster base shall <br />not be permitted. <br /> <br />7-10wNo paper of any kind shall be used for the permanent outside covering <br />of any building. <br /> <br />7-11 All building materials shall be of good quality, conforming to generally <br />accepted standards. Except as otherwise provided by law, or in ibis code, <br />the specifications of the American Society for Testing Materials shall <br />be deemed to be generally accepted. <br /> <br />7-12 Aggregate for-~shall be of a quality. at least equal to that re- <br />quired by ASTM Standard. Specifications for "Aggregte for Masonry Mortar" <br />(C 144-52).
