<br />14.050. Sign, Name Plate. A name plate sign is a sign which <br />states only the name or address or both of the business or occupant <br />of the lot where such sign is placed. <br /> <br />14.060. Sign, Flashing. A flashing sign is an illuminated sign <br />on which the artificial light is not maintained stationary or <br />constant in intensity and color at all times when such sign is in <br />use, or any sign which by optical or mechanical means, appears to <br />simulate a flashing sign. <br /> <br />14.070. Sign, Illuminated. An illuminated sign is a sign on <br />which artificial light is directed on or from it. <br /> <br />14.080. Sign, Rotating. A rotating sign is a sign or display <br />which rotates on its axis by mechanical means. A rotating sign <br />may be an illuminated sign. <br /> <br />14.090. Sign, Gross Surface Area. Each surface utilized for <br />display shall be included in area calculation and also symbols, flags, <br />wording, figures or other forms of graphics painted, attached to any <br />structure or otherwise suspended; advertising on persons, animals or <br />vehicles shll be considered as a sign to be included. The area of <br />said signs shall be calculated from the outside dimensions of the <br />frame, exclusive of 12" inches of the width of the frame when said <br />frame exists, providing that no graphics or lettering shall be placed <br />upon the frame other than the customary imprint of the advertising <br />firm, if any, concerned. For dual faced business signs, the larger <br />face shall be considered in computing the gross surface area. All <br />areas referred to in this code shall be gross surface areas unless <br />otherwise stated. <br /> <br />GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />14.100. A sign shall be considered as a structure or a part of <br />a structure for the purpose of applying yard and height regulations <br />except as hereinafter stipulated. <br /> <br />14.110. Signs shall not be permitted within the public right- <br />of-way or easements except bench signs, newspaper and cab stands and <br />church directional signs all of which shall be as governed by the <br />Building Code. Village, county and state traffic directional signs <br />are permitted. <br /> <br />14.120. Rotating signs shall not give off an intensity of <br />light so as to constitute a rotating beam or a nuisance to adjacent <br />property owners. <br />
