<br />114. Public Vehicles <br /> <br />114.010. Definitions. Except where otherwise expressly <br />stated, the following terms, wherever used in this chapter, <br />shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in <br />this section, viz: <br /> <br />(1) Public Vehicles. The term "public vehicles" <br />shall mean and include any motor driven veacle for the <br />transportation for hire of passengers, but not including <br />any commercial vehicle regulated by the State. <br /> <br />(2) Taxi-meter. The term "taxi-meter" shall mean <br />and include any mechanical instrument or device approved <br />by the Chief of Police, by means of which the charge for <br />hire of a taxicab is mechanically calculated, and on which <br />such charge is plainly indicated. <br /> <br />(3) Driver. <br />dual in immediate <br />vehicle. <br /> <br />The term "driver" shall mean the indivi- <br />control of the movement of the public <br /> <br />(4) Driver's Permit. The term "driver's permit,r shall <br />mean permission granted by the Village to any person to drive <br />upon the streets of said Village any licensed public vehicle. <br /> <br />(5) OWner. The word "owner" shall mean any person, <br />firm, co-partnership, corporation or association that has <br />the bona fide legal title and right of control, direction, <br />operation and maintenance of such licensed public vehicle <br />so operated for hire on the streets of the Village. <br /> <br />114.020. License Required. No person shall use or <br />operate for hire, within the limits of the Village any <br />public vehicle without first obtaining a public vehicle <br />license from the Council for each public vehicle as herein <br />provided. <br /> <br />114.030. Applicant Requirements. Each applicant for <br />permit to operate for hire a public vehicle must comply with <br />the following conditions: <br /> <br />(1) Be the State license registered owner of the <br />public vehicle. <br />
