14.035. Policy on Non-Conforming Advertising Signs. Advertising signs have been prohibited by Section 14.030 of the City Code. A number of such signs are in exis- tence in the City. The Council believes that some were erected prior to enactment of Section 14.030 and some after enactment of Section 14.030, but the date of erection of individual signs is unascertainable. By this ordinance, it is the City Council's intent to treat all advertising signs in existence as of the effective date of this ordinance as preexisting non-conforming uses, regardless of the date of erection, but to require their removal over the periods of time hereinafter specified. 14.036. Advertising Signs in Residential Districts. Advertising signs in districts zoned for residential use, in existence on the effective date of this ordinance, are permitted as preexisting non-conforming uses, subject to the provisions of Chapter 11 of this Code. Such advertising signs shall be removed by and are prohibited after June 1, 1984. 14.037. Advertising Signs in all Zoning Classifi- cations Except Residential Zones. Advertising signs in all zoning districts except residential districts, in existence on the effective date of this ordinance, are permitted as preexisting non-conforming uses subject to the provisions of Chapter 11 of this Code. Such advertising signs shall be removed by and are pro- hibited after June 1, 1985. 14.038. Advertising Signs along Interstate Highways. Advertising signs covered by Minn. Stat. Section 173.17, are exempted from the requirements of Sections 14.036 and 14.037. IV. Section 14.180 of the City Code of the City of Roseville lS amended to read as follows: 14.180. Non-Conforming Use. Except for non-conform- ing uses governed by Sections 14.035, 14.036, 14.037 and 14.038, all non-conforming signs in existence on the effective date of this ordinance may continue, subject to the provisions of Chapter 11 of this Code.
