<br />AR TIClE I. <br />SHORT nTLE AND DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />This Ordinance shall be known and cited as the Cable Communications <br /> <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />For the purpose of the Franchise, the following terms, phrases, words and <br /> <br />their derivations shall have the meaning given herein. When not inconsistent <br /> <br />with the context, words used in the present tense include the future, words in the <br /> <br />plural number include the singular number, and words in the singular number <br /> <br />include the plural number. The words "shall" and "will" are mandatory and "may" <br /> <br />is permissive. Words not defined shall be given their common and ordinary <br /> <br />meaning. <br /> <br />A. "Basic Service" means the delivery by Grantee to all subscribers <br />of satellite delivered special interest programming, automated <br />programming, broadcast stations and access programming, and <br />local origination channels by Grantee as covered by regular <br />monthly charges paid by all subscribers, which service is <br />initially described in Offering as Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III. <br />This definition excludes optional services for which a separate <br />charge is made. <br /> <br />B. "Board" means the Minnesota Cable Communications Board. <br /> <br />C. "City" means City of Roseville, a municipal corporation, in the <br />State of Minnesota, acting by and through its City Council. <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />D. "Class IV Channel" means a signaling path provided by a System <br />to transmit signals of any type from a subscriber terminal to <br />another point in System. <br /> <br />E. "Converter" means an electronic device, which converts signals <br />to a frequency acceptable to a television receiver of a <br />subscriber, and by and appropriate channel selector permits a <br />subscriber to view all subscriber signals included in the service. <br /> <br />- 3 - <br />
