<br />-2- <br /> <br />File 64-191 - Request for special use permit by PIK Terminal to construct a trucking <br />terminal on Prior Avenue north of County Road "C". Mr. Eugene Pikosky, 2600 University <br />S.E., Minneapolis, and John Magney, architect, 808 Foshay Tower, stated that the invest- <br />ment for the land and building will be approximately $400,000. <br /> <br />Nelson moved, Sigford seconded, that we recommend the approval of the special use <br />permit. Carried unanimously. <br /> <br />File 64-196 - Division of a lot requested by George Smith, 2018 North Dale Street. <br />Having sufficient square footage to meet the ordinance requirement, Sigford moved, <br />Lund seconded, that we recommend the approval of the request. Carried unanimously. <br /> <br />File 64-192 - Rezoning request by Arthur Johnston from R-1 to B-1 of the property at <br />the northeast corner of Lexington and Roma Avenues. Mr. Johnston stated that they <br />propose to construct a medical building, rather small in size. Mr. and Mrs. Neal <br />Fredrickson, 1806 N. Lexington Avenue were concerned about the land to the north of the <br />proposed building. Anderson moved, Soike seconded, that we recommend the rezoning from <br />R-l to B-1 of the property as described on the petition. Carried unanimously. <br /> <br />File 64-189 - Rezoning request of Merrill Stenglein from R-1 to B-1 of property on <br />proposed new highway No. 8 for the operation of a nursing home. The records showed <br />that an error occurred in the publication of the legal description of this property, <br />therefore, Membrez moved, Soike seconded, that the matter be laid over to the next <br />regular meeting June 3, 1964. Carried unanimously. <br /> <br />File 64-193 - Request for a special use permit and variance by Goldman to construct <br />apartment buildings on the southwest corner of Snelling Avenue and Highway 36. Mr. Michael, <br />architect representing the owner, explained the details of the plan showing most of the <br />buildings grouped together on the south portion of the property and the parking on the <br />north side. The consensus of opinion of the members of the Planning Commission was that <br />the lay-out was poorly planned. Mr. Franke and Mr. Callender, residing on Haddington <br />Road, expressed the same opinion. Nelson moved, Soike seconded, that petitioner be <br />notified that the proposed plan does not conform with set-backs and density and that <br />they re-submit a new proposal to conform with the ordinance. Carried unanimously. <br /> <br />File 64-194 - Rezoning request of Don Roberts from R-l to R-3 and special use permit to <br />construct 2-1/2 story building on that portion of the land zoned B-1. Mr. Blis, 1716 Marion <br />was concerned about the children playing on a steep rise, or slope,created by some grading <br />and he suggested a fence to keep the children from getting hurt. Mr. Roberts agreed to <br />take the necessary steps to prevent accidents in the future. Mr. Daubney, Attorney for <br />Roberts, stated that 2 buildings with each 29 I-bedroom unit will be constructed. <br />Anderson moved, Soike seconded, that we recommend the rezoning of R-l to R-3 and the <br />special use permit as requested. Carried unanimously. <br /> <br />File 64-195 - Rezoning request and special use permit of Tom Willmus from I-I to 1-2 to <br />construct a truck terminal on this property located on Cleveland Avenue just south of <br />lona Lane. Sigford moved, Lund seconded, that we recommend the property be rezoned from <br />1-1 to 1-2 and that we grant a special use permit to construct a truck terminal. Carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />File 64-167 - Division of 2 lots at 711 Heinel Drive by Thomas Bacig into 3 lots - 2 <br />with 85 foot frontage and 1 with 130 foot frontage on Heinel Drive. Property owners of <br />Heinel Drive - Gene Kempf, Klaus, Manser and Zoltai were opposed to this proposal. This <br />matter had been previously approved by the Planning Commission. Mr. Ed Moment and his <br />daughter desire to buy one lot and build a home. Soike moved, Nelson seconded, to divide <br />the 2 lots into 3 lots and approve the re-arrangement of the boundary of the 3 lots. <br />Carried unanimously. <br />
