Rothschild - Vacation of Terrace Drive between
Hamline and Hurono

About 20 residents were on hand to hear Mr. John Daubney~ attorney for H. & Val Jo
Rothschild. present the plans for this piece of propertyo Mrs. Lincoln. 1321 West
County Road C-2 appeared to be the only one opposed to the vacation of the street.
She claimed the traffic \Vould increase at the corner of C=2 and HUl"on. Our planner
pointed out that not only could the property now zoned R=3 be developed betterD without
being cut in half by a public street~ this street (Terrace Drive) would possibly cause
problems with our traffic movements at the Hamline Shopping Center. He also stated that
a well done development on the R-3 property would tend to screen the shopping center from
the residential neighborhood behind. It was moved by Pope and seconded by Nelson that
\Ve recommend approval of this vacation provided the petitioner grant easement ror storm
sewer at no cost to the Village. Roll CallD unanimous.

Subject File 363=66 - H. & Val J. Rothschild = rezoning request from R=2 to R=6 (area
near Hamline Shopping Center) 0

Mr. John Daubney presented preliminary plans of a planned unit development for the
area showing t\vO apartment structures and a closed swimming pool in the "R=3" area and
townhouses in the area under consideration for rezoning. M::, Weitzman and his
architect explained the parkingD material on the garagesD ingress and egress to the
property. densitYD etc. None of the 20 residents on hand spoke in favor of the p:;:,;)ject.
Hro Dick Flesher. 2774 Huron~ was opposed to townhouses because they would create a
traffic problem and he felt that promises had been made in the past by the property owner
that double bungalows would be built on the R=2 property. Mr. Howard McDurmetD 2866 HuronD
opposed the rezoning. Mr. Don Strobeck D 1297 IV. County Road C=2 was opposed because storm
sewer assessments would have to be paid by him before the property could be developed.
~;r. Ed Galle. 2755 North Dell\vood~ also opposed the rezoning. Upon request of the
developer it was moved by Remsburg and seconded by Nelson that we lay this matter over
until the regular meeting of April 5th to see if the storm sewer problem is solvedo
Roll Call. unanimouso
