<br />Regular Meeting - Roseville Planning Commission <br />Wednesday, August 7, 1968 <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />Members absent: <br />Also present: <br /> <br />Membrez, Anderson, Carpenter, Demos, Edlund, Pope and Remsburg <br />None <br />Darling, Grauel and Goldberg <br /> <br />It was moved by Edlund and seconded by Carpenter that we accept the minutes of the <br />meetings of July 3, 1968 and July 14, 1968 as submitted. Roll Call: unanimous. <br /> <br />Subj6ctFile 460-68 <br /> <br />Otto Esch Equipment Company request for special use permit <br />amendment at 2365 Highway 36. <br /> <br />Tom Van Hausen of Progressive Design Associates represented the owner. He stated that <br />they had been given the wrong information regarding the exterior material that they <br />were planning on putting on the warehouse. The cost is about twice what they were <br />qaoted. He said they would like to use concrete like that being used on the Sun Chemical <br />building and the Ice Arena. After discussion <br /> <br />It was moved by Remsburg and seconded by Pope that we recommend to the Council that <br />they grant approval of the request for amendment to the special use permit. Roll Call, <br />Ayes (6) - Nays (I), Edlund opposing. <br /> <br />"Subject'File464-68 - John & Paul Schwalbach request for variance to sign ordinance <br />.. at 2633 North Rice Street. <br /> <br />Mr. Schwalbach stated that they would like to replace their sign that had been knocked <br />down. They would like to use the same location with the new sign. After discussion, <br /> <br />It was moved by Edlund and seconded by Demos that we recommend to the Council that they <br />grant the variance to sign ordinance as requested. Roll Call: unanimous. <br /> <br />SubJect File 465-68 - North Hill Development Company request for division of lot at <br />958 Lydia Avenue. <br /> <br />There appeared to be no problems involved with this request so <br /> <br />It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Demos that we recommend to the Council that <br />they grant the request for division of lot as requested. Roll Call: unanimous. <br /> <br />SUbject File 466-68 - Chandler-Wilbert Vault Company, 2280 North Hamline Avenue request <br />for variance to setback requirement. <br /> <br />Mr. Bud Chandler gave a history of the property and then explained that the overpass at <br />Hamline and 36 would take their parking that is on the west side of their building. They <br />would like to have SO to 60 parking places on this property to the east of their plant. <br />Instead of the 40 feet setback as required in the ordinance they are proposing 8 feet on <br />the east and 2 feet on the south. They hired Toltz King Duvall Anderson & Associates <br />to design the parking lot. They would have to go around the building to enter the lot. <br />The drainage would be to the north. <br /> <br />Mr. Willis and Mr. Bill Turcott and Mrs. Art Bisang spoke at the hearing. There were <br />questions about the drainage, setback, fences, plantings, trees, etc. Because of concern <br />for the drainage and the large variance requested <br /> <br />It was moved by Demos and seconded by Carpenter that we lay this over until our next <br />meeting and have our Engineer report on the drainage. Roll Call: unanimous. <br />
