Regular Meeting - Roseville Planning Commission
Wednesday - November 6, 1968 - 7:30 P.M.

Members present:
Members absent:
Also present:

~~mbrez, Anderson, Demos, Edlund, Pope and Remsburg
Carpenter
Darling, Grauel and Goldberg

It was moved by Demos and seconded by Edlund that we accept the minutes of the special
meeting of September 23, 1968 and the minutes of the regular meeting of October 2, 1968
as submitted. Roll Call: unanimous.

Subject File 473-68 - State of Minnesota Highway Department request for approval of
preliminary plan for overpass at Victoria Avenue and T.H. 36.

It was moved by Remsburg and seconded by Pope that we lay this over until our next
meeting. Roll Call: unanimous.

Subject Fil~ 47~~68 - Lametti and Sons, Inc. request for special use permit for heliport
at 2560 North Cleveland Avenue.

Victor Lametti purchased 3-1/2 acres of property to the east of the 10 acres that they
own now. He is moving his operation to the east so that the 5 acres he owns on Cleveland
should increase in value. On the land to tile east he would like to build a heliport.
Mr. Robert Thompson who lives 3/4 mile north of County Road C wanted to know if more
companies would use this heliport and was wondering about the noise. Mr. Lametti said
tha t he would be the only one us ing the he liport and his copters wouldn't be making so
many trips that the noise would be a factor. After discussion

It was moved by Edlund and seconded by Remsburg that we recommend to the Council that
they grant the special use permit for a heliport at 2560 North Cleveland Avenue subject
to the dedication of 33' of southerly portion of property for future road if needed and
compliance with the Village Code on screening of storage area. Roll Call: unanimous.

Subjec~ File. ~81.:-6~ - Halper Box Company request for variance to parking setback at
3075 Long Lake Road.

Mr. Larry McGough represented Mr. Jerry Halper. He stated that they needed the extra
space for the parking of automobiles and that they didn't want to was te the land because
it was just too valuable. Discussion centered on the fact that open space was desirable
and that Sun Chemical had adhered to the setbacks and that Halper Box was only the second
one to build in the area between C-2 and D. So following discussion

It was moved by Demos and seconded by Anderson that we recommend to the Council that they
deny this request for variance to parking setback. Roll Call: unanimous.

Subject File 482-68 - Ardin Fleischaker request for rezoning from B-1 to B-2 at the
northwest corner of Elmer Street and Rice Street.

Mr. Fred Memmer represented Mr. Ardin Fleischaker. The property is ISO' on Rice Street
and 165' on Elmer Street with both entrances on Rice Street. The building would be the
standard 30' by 65' with inside eating only or take out food. There would be parking
for 40 cars. No liquor would be served but they would serve 3.2 beer. There are now
two in Duluth, four in the Twin Cities, one of these being in White Bear Lake. The
building would seat 75 people. As there is no sewer at present they realize that they
would have to petition for the sewer. This did not seem like a logical stepdown in the
zoning pattern along Rice Street. After discussion

It was moved by Edlund and seconded by Anderson that we recommend to the Council that
they deny this request for rezoning. Roll Call: unanimous.
