<br />-4- <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The Commission meni>ers suggested some names such as: "Industrial Park, Space Center <br />Boulevard,"and other similar titles. It was suggested that Commission members come back <br />to the next meeting with two or three suggestions for the renaming of St. Croix Street. <br /> <br />Reconunendation <br /> <br />Chairman Membrez requested that this item be held over until next month with the <br />understanding that each Commission member would suggest two or three names for the re- <br />naming of St. Croix Street. <br /> <br />Planning File 511-69 - Leroy LeMay request for division of a lot at 245 West County <br />koad C <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Leroy LeMay indicated that he would like to divide this lot so that he could <br />develop the eastern parcel. He indicated that the new house would front on Marion Street <br />and that the existing garage would be moved closer to the existing house. <br /> <br />Discuss ion <br /> <br />The Commission once again referred to tile report from Mr. Dahlgren which indicated <br />the applicant is proposing to develop the property creating 100 x 138 foot lot on the <br />corner leaving an 81.5 foot lot fronting on County Road C. Due to the existing lot and <br />the scale of the property concerned the Commission felt that this division has some merit. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Pope moved, Johnson seconded, that the request of Leroy LeMay for a division of a <br />lot at 245 West County Road C be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: Carpenter, Johnson, Pope, <br />Eagles and Membrez. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 77-69 - Policies and Costs of Underground Residential Electrical Service - <br />Proposed Ordinance for Study. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Nick Dries, Northern States Power Company, indicated that NSP is encouraging the <br />undergrounding of electric distribution lines in residential areas. He further in- <br />dicated that a number of municipalities have adopted ordinances that now require all <br />electric distribution lines in new residential areas to be buried. Mr. Dries distributed <br />a proposed underground utilities ordinance which would read as follows: <br /> <br />"All new electric distribution lines excluding main line feeders and high <br />voltage transmission lines, telephone service lines and services constructed <br />within the ~onfines of and providing service to customers in a newly platted <br />residential area shall be buried underground. unless the Council specifically <br />shall find after study and recommendation by the Planning Commission that <br /> <br />1. The placing of utilities underground would not be compatible with the <br />development planned <br /> <br />2. The additional cost of burying such utilities would create an undue <br />financial hardship or <br />
