-7~

for the commerical property development from County Road C going north.

Discussion

Mr. John Daubney representing the Paul Bunyan Motel indicated that these pre-
liminary plans were inadequate as far as the motel is concerned. The method of getting
to the motel would be extremely difficult from either a south or a north direction.
Mr. Daubney indicated that they did not have a solution to this problem at this time
but felt that some minimuma1 access design at approximately C-2 could better serve the
motel and the existing commercial property on the west side of Snelling Avenue.
Mr. Daubney further indicated that the Paul Bunyan Motel would have to go on record as
opposed to this preliminary plan at this time.

Mr. Wayne Burlingame, 2977 Asbury, indicated that he was generally opposed to
the overpass at Lydia Avenue.

Mr. Jim Edlund, Commission member, indicated that Snelling Avenue in this area was
still beyond 7 years for the acquisition of right-of-way and that this was merely a
preliminary sketch submitted to the Village at this time.

Dr. Eggson, l47S Centennial Drive, had a question as to the estimated cost of an
overpass on Lydia Drive. Mr. Dahlgren stated that it could vary depending upon the soil
conditions, but somewhere in the neighborhood of $l50,OOO.

Dr. Pagenkopf, representing School District 621, indicated that this preliminary
plan would not substantially effect the transportation of children to the Ralph Reeder
Elementary School.

Mr.Jud Zandstra, 1541 Lydia, indicated that he could see no difference between
putting the overpass at C-2 or Lydia and that he would prefer the overpass to be at
County Road C-2.

Mr. Elmer Isacksson who owns property on the east side of Snelling Avenue just south
of C-2 indicated that he is not in favor of the service roads from County Road C to his
property. He indicated that this would make it extremely difficult for the development of
the property because of the difficulty getting off Snelling to the property on the east
side of Snelling Avenue.

Mrs. Lyle Christensen, representing the Ralph Reeder P.T.A., indicated general
approval of these preliminary plans and stated that they approve the interchange at
County Road C and Hamline rather than at C-2.

Mr. \Vhite, l643 Millwood, representing the Fairview Heights Improvement Ass'n.
indicated that this group was opposed to an interchange at County Road C-2.

Mr. David Dye, 1467 Centennial Drive, felt that the State Highway Department
should leave Snelling as it exists now and not propose any interchanges through Rosevi11e.

Recommendation
.

The Planning Commission requested that Mr. Dahlgren study these preliminary plans
and bring an alternative design back to the Planning Commission at their July meeting.

It was moved and seconded that tho meeting be adjourned at 12:0l A.M. Roll Call, Ayes:
Demos, Eagles, Edlund, Johnson, Pope and Membrez. Nays: None.

thairman

1 .

Assistant Manager
