Midland Videen - vacation of Wheeler Street from Maple Lane to
to County Road C.2

Presentation
I I

Paul Videen, represented the petitioner. He indicated tllat he owned two lots adjacent to
Wheeler Street. A petition had been previously presented to the Village and it was signed
by the residents within 250 feet, and indicated they were in favor of said vacation. His
letter which accompanied the application stated the reason for this request. They are as
follows:

1. The street is not needed or wanted by any of the residents listed in the
abstract.
2. Flemmers and Minskes lots will be enhanced by increased woods allowing for
more room for family activities and safer play areas.
3. The south facing lots on County Road B-2 can be increased in width to allow
larger homes to be built on them.
4. Street construction costs can be eliminated.
5. Villaae maintenance costs can be eliminated.
6. Traffic safety will be improved on both Maple Lane and also on County Road C.2.

Chairman Membrez brou~1t out the fact that if Wheeler was vacated this would only leave
one access route to the park. Mr. Edlund indicated that our subdivision ordinance re.
garding length of blocks required a maximum of 900 feet, and that this block would be
1200 feet in length. We, therefore, would need a pedestrian access through this area.

Discussion

Mrs. Flemmer, 1754 Maple Lane, stated that someone at the Village had indicated to her
that this street would never be built.

Mr. Sellers, 1788 Millwood, felt that a recommendation should be made from the Park Board
as to their feelings on whether the road should be vacated or not. He said he was in
favor of not vacating the street.
