<br />Roseville Planning Commission Meeting <br />Wednesday, October 7, 1970 <br /> <br />The October 7, 1970, meeting of the Rosevil1e Planning Commission was called to order by <br />Chai rman Memb re z at 7: 30 P. M. <br /> <br />Members present: Kellett, Johnson, Demos, Pope, Edlund and Membre:. Eagles arrived <br />at 7:45 P.M. <br /> <br />Others present: Councilman Albert Grauel, Public Works Director Sherman Goldberg, <br />Inspection Superintendent Ernie Kluegel and Administrative Assistant <br />Steve North. <br /> <br />Mr. Kellett moved and Mr. Edlund seconded, that the minutes of the meeting of <br />September 2, 1970, be approved as presented. Roll Call, Ayes: Kellett, Demos, Pope, <br />Edlund, Membre:. Nays: None. Abstention: Johnson. <br /> <br />Planning File 587-70 - Victor Vik preliminary plat - Vik Addition at 2200 Fulham Street <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Membre: read a letter from residents in Mr. Vik's neighborhood requesting an additional <br />30 day delay to provide a surveyor time to complete work deemed necessary for preparation <br />of a proposed plat for the rear portions of the lots east of the Vik property. Mr. Vik <br />felt he should be able to proceed since there had already been a one month delay. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />J <br /> <br />Mrs. Demos moved and Mr. Johnson seconded that the Vik preliminary plat be laid over until <br />the next meeting of the Planning Co~ssion. Roll Call, Ayes: Johnson, Demos, Pope and <br />Membrez. Nays: Kellett, Edlund and Eagles. <br /> <br />Planning File 588-70 - Western Stores (Division of Continental Oil Company) request for <br />special use permit and variance at approximately 2700 North Rice Street <br /> <br />Presentation <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. L. J. Haug representing Western Stores, stated that the convenience center consisting <br />of a service station and retail store would require a 10 foot variance for the canopy which <br />will extend to within 20 feet of the property line and a special use permit for the service <br />station. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Edlund and Mr. Kellett felt that the architecture and building material of the conven- <br />ience center should more closely match the adjacent apartment building. Mr. Pope favored <br />the use of brick instead of concrete block as the exterior building material. No one from <br />the audience spoke in opposition. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr. Pope moved and Mr. Edlund seconded that the Commission recommend approval of Western <br />Stores request for special use permit at approximately 2700 North Rice Street with the <br />following stipulations: <br /> <br />1. That no variance be granted for the canopy. <br />2. That brick be used as the exterior building material where shown on the photos. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: Kellett, Johnson, Demos, Pope, Edlund, Eagles, Membrez. Nays: None. <br />
