<br />-5- <br /> <br />Planning File 634-71 - Land & Properties, Inc. request for vacation of Mackubin <br />Street in plat of MJunt Dale Additim <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />The applicant was not present. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Goldberg explained that the vacation of Mackubin Street was merely a teclmical- <br />ity. Mackubin was the original proposed access point from County Road B for the <br />"Palasides ApartJOOnt" project. However, that access is now being provided on <br />Sandhurst Avenue. Therefore. the Mackubin Street access is no longer required. <br /> <br />RecolTlllendation <br /> <br />Mr. Eagles Moved and Mr. Kellett Seconded. that the Commission recomnend approval of <br />Land & Properties, Inc. request for vacation of :Mackubin Street in plat of Mount Dale <br />Addition. Roll Call, Ayes: DemJs, Eagles, Kellett, Edlund and Pope. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 635-71 - William Godbout request for variance to parking setback at <br />1080 West County Road D <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Godbout indicated that he had purchased the apartment about 18 IOOnths ago. He <br />has since been notified that the parking spaces extend to wi thin about 3 feet of the <br />street right-of-way, while the ordinance requires a minimum of 15 foot setback. He <br />indicated that if he were to cOlI1'ly with the ordinance that it would 100311 losing four <br />parking spaces. There are presently 42 parking spaces for the 24 apartment units. <br />l-e stated that if he were to be reduced to 38, that a severe parking problem would <br />exist for his apartment tenants. The parking spaces have apparently been in existence <br />since about 1963. <br /> <br />Mr. Godbout indicated that he was improving the area. He had recently sodded some <br />of the right.of-way area and was planting trees in the iSland. and near the garages. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mrs. Demos stated that she was in agreeJOOnt that the apartment project certainly looked <br />better than it ever has in the past and that the sodding was a distinct improvement <br />over the weeds that used to exist. <br /> <br />Mr. Eagles felt the applicant was short on parking spaces now, and that to reduce it <br />any further would only cOJUPound the existing problem. <br /> <br />Recomnendation <br /> <br />Mr. Eagles moved and Mr. Kellett seconded, that the Commission recomnend approval of <br />William Godbout's request for variance to parking setback at 1080 West County Road D. <br />Roll Call, Ayes: Dem::>s. Eagles, Kellett, Edlund and Pope. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 636-71 - Clayton Benish and Lillie Syring request for division of a lot <br />at 1800 Alta Vista Drive <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Benish indicated that the property is presently zoned R-1 and consists of over <br />two acres. He stated that he would be purchasing the larger of the two lots if a <br />
