<br />Roseville Planning Camnission Meeting <br />Wednesday, October 6, 1971 <br /> <br />The October 6, 1971, regular meeting of the Roseville Planning Commission was called <br />to order by Chainnan Membrez at 7:35 P.M. <br /> <br />r.embers Present: <br />Members Absent: <br />Others Present: <br /> <br />Eagles, Demos, Kellett and Membrez <br />Johnson, Pope and Edlund <br />Councilman Albert Grauel, Public Works Director Shennan Goldberg, <br />Midwest Planning representative Dick Dwinell and Administrative <br />Assistant Steve North <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Mr. Eagles roved and Mrs. Demos seconded, that the minutes of the regular meeting <br />of September 1, 1971, be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: Eagles, Demos, Kellett and <br />Membrez. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 644.71 . Dayton's Firestone Auto Center request for special use pemit <br />on amended planned wit development at Rosedale Center <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Emerson of the Dayton Development Company introduced Mr. Baird of the <br />FirestaneCorporation. Mr. Baird indicated that Rosedale is truly a regional <br />shopping center and there exists a definite need for tire, battery, accessory est- <br />ablishments in regional centers. Mr. Baird stated that the Firestone Corporation <br />fully intended on continuing Dayton's high standard of development and operation. <br />Mr. EIoorson indicated that 107 new parking spaces would be provided, to replace those <br />that were reJOOved for the construction of the proposed building and to provide add- <br />itional parking for the tire center and the previously approved Bachman's Garden <br />Center. He indicated that Dayton Corporation would confonn to any of the code require- <br />ments with respect to parking setbacks, etc. Mr. Baird indicated that the landscaping <br />on the top of the bank into which the TBA center will be constructed will remain and <br />that the trees, if damaged, will be replaced. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Kellett inquired as to what provisions would be made to keep children off the roof, <br />since the roof would be readily accessible from the upper terrace. Mr. Baird indicated <br />that they would be willing to screen it in any manner that is most desirable. Mr. Baird <br />indicated that the building will have a length of approximately 156 feet and a total <br />of about 4,800 square feet of floor area. Mr. Eagles expressed concern over the pro- <br />posed parking area and the resultant changes in traffic flow. He indicated perhaps <br />an alternative parking proposal should be discussed. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr. Eagles moved and Mr. Kellett seconded, that the Dayton's Firestone Auto Center <br />request for special use pennit on amended planned wit development at Roseda1e Center <br />be laid over until the next regular Conmission meeting; and that prior to the meeting, <br />the Planning Commission Chahman shall confer with the Dayton Corporation regarding <br />this request. Roll Call, Ayes: Eagles, Demos, Ke Het t and Membrez.
