<br />-8- <br /> <br />Mr. Cook indicated that the residents wouldn't mind if the townhouses <br />were for sale, but did not want townhouses in the area for rent which <br />would come under government subsidization. <br /> <br />Mr. David Dye, 1477 Centennial Drive, suggested that perhaps duplexes <br />could be constructed on the west and north portions of the property and <br />townhouses on the remainder. The residents in the area presented a <br />petition to the Commission indicating their desire that the property <br />remain zoned R-l and not be rezoned to R-3A. <br /> <br />Mrs. Demos indicated that the Metropolitan Council has taken the position <br />that if a municipality does not develop housing for the low and moderate <br />income populace, that the Council will not consider that municipalities <br />applications for federal funding in any other areas such as sewers, open <br />space, etc. <br /> <br />Mr. Membrez stated that the League of Women Voters, in the past, have <br />been desirous of establishing low income housing in the community. <br /> <br />Mr. Gene Valley indicated that most of the residents intend to stay in <br />the area and he hoped the property would remain zoned R-l. He felt that <br />the development had the potential to become a slum. <br /> <br />Mr. Richard Haeg, 2953 Pascal, indicated his opposition to the develop- <br />ment and felt that theproperty should remain R-l. <br /> <br />Mr. Vern Johnson stated +hat he would be interested in seeing projected <br />traffic flows on Centenn 1 Drive based on the additional vehicles which <br />would be generated by the proposed development. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr. G. Johnson Moved and Mrs. Demos Seconded, that Michels Construction <br />Company request for rezoning from R-l to R-3A and special use permit for <br />planned unit development at 1400 West County Road C-2 be laid over until <br />the next regular Commission meeting. Roll Call, Ayes: G. Johnson, V. <br />Johnson, Membrez, Demos, Eagles, Kellett and Pope. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 660 - Review of Ordinance Relating to Day Care Centers <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr. Membrez Moved and Mrs. Demos Seconded, that the review of ordinance <br />relating to Day Care Centers be laid over until the next regular Commission <br />meeting. Roll Call, Ayes: G. Johnson, V. Johnson, Membrez, Demos, Eagles, <br />Kellett and Pope. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />Mr. Eagles Moved and Mr. Kellett Seconded, that the meeting be adjourned <br />at 11:45 P.M. Roll Call, Ayes: G. Johnson, V.
