<br />-5- <br /> <br />He expressed a desire to cooperate in all ways possible with the <br />Village and the residents to obtain the best solution to the <br />problem. <br /> <br />Mr. Olich, Noise Specialist with the State Highway Department, pre- <br />sented drawings that had been made of the area and discussed some of <br />the potential sound barriers that can be utilized to aid in the re- <br />duction of the noise. He answered numerous questions from people in <br />the audience who reside in the area of the interchange. <br /> <br />Mr. John Olen, Chief of Technical Services for the Minnesota Pollution <br />Control Agency, indicated that the PCA has been charged by the State <br />Legislature to combat the Noise Pollution Problem in the State of <br />Minnesota. He indicated that the state had contracted with a private <br />consultant to determine standards relating to noise. He also expressed <br />the PCA's concern with the problem of noise at the interchange and that <br />they would do all within their power to cooperate with the people and <br />the Village in the solution of the problem. He indicated that the PCA <br />would also work closely with the Highway Department on the problem. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr. Membrez Moved and Mr. V. Johnson Seconded, that the study of noise <br />level at the interchange of Highways 36, 280 and 35W be laid over <br />until the next regular Commission meeting, and that the State Highway <br />Department be requested to make a status report to the Commission at <br />that time. Roll Call, Ayes: V. Johnson, Membrez, Demos, Eagles, Kellett <br />G. Johnson and Pope. Nays: None. <br /> <br />July Meeting <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. V. Johnson indicated that because the regular July meeting would <br />fall on the 5th and because numerous individuals would be taking <br />vacations during the week of the 4th, he would suggest that the meeting <br />be delayed one week until the 12th of July. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr. V. Johnson Moved and Mr. Kellett Seconded, that the Commission <br />recommend to the Village Council that the regular Planning Commission <br />meeting in July be changed from the first Wednesday, July 5, to the <br />second, Wednesday, July 12. Roll Call, Ayes: V. Johnson, Membrez, <br />Demos, Eagles, Kellett, G. Johnson and Pope. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />Mrs. Demos Moved, and Mr. Eagles Seconded, that the meeting be <br />adjourned at 9:45 P.M. Roll Call, Ayes: V. Johnson, Membrez, Demos, <br />Eagles, Kellett, G. Johnson and Pope. Nays: None. <br />
