-5- He expressed a desire to cooperate in all ways possible with the Village and the residents to obtain the best solution to the problem. Mr. Olich, Noise Specialist with the State Highway Department, pre- sented drawings that had been made of the area and discussed some of the potential sound barriers that can be utilized to aid in the re- duction of the noise. He answered numerous questions from people in the audience who reside in the area of the interchange. Mr. John Olen, Chief of Technical Services for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, indicated that the PCA has been charged by the State Legislature to combat the Noise Pollution Problem in the State of Minnesota. He indicated that the state had contracted with a private consultant to determine standards relating to noise. He also expressed the PCA's concern with the problem of noise at the interchange and that they would do all within their power to cooperate with the people and the Village in the solution of the problem. He indicated that the PCA would also work closely with the Highway Department on the problem. Recommendation Mr. Membrez Moved and Mr. V. Johnson Seconded, that the study of noise level at the interchange of Highways 36, 280 and 35W be laid over until the next regular Commission meeting, and that the State Highway Department be requested to make a status report to the Commission at that time. Johnson indicated that because the regular July meeting would fall on the 5th and because numerous individuals would be taking vacations during the week of the 4th, he would suggest that the meeting be delayed one week until the 12th of July. Recommendation Mr. V. Johnson Moved and Mr. Kellett Seconded, that the Commission recommend to the Village Council that the regular Planning Commission meeting in July be changed from the first Wednesday, July 5, to the second, Wednesday, July 12.
