<br />-4- <br /> <br />Mr. Vern Johnson suggested there might be value in knowing what <br />the parking ratios are for the existing shopping centers in the <br />community; i.e., Lexington Plaza, Rose Shopping Center and McCarrons <br />Lake Center. <br /> <br />Mrs. Demos inquired if the applicant would be agreeable to no access <br />off Rice Street, except for the one for the gasoline station at the <br />corner of Rice and B-2. <br /> <br />Mr. Lien indicated that the applicant would agree to that proposal. <br /> <br />Mr. V. Johnson Moved that the Commission recommend approval of Kath <br />Brothers request for rezoning from B-1 to B-2 and variance to parking <br />requirement at 2425 North Rice Street, with the condition that the <br />applicant submit a parking study comparison of his development with <br />other existing shopping centers in the Village. <br /> <br />The motion failed for lack of a second. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mrs. Demos Moved and Mr. Eagles Seconded, that Kath Brothers request <br />for rezoning from B-1 and R-l to B-2 and variance to parking require- <br />ment at 2425 North Rice Street be laid over until the next regular <br />Commission meeting and that the Village Planner prepare a parking study <br />comparison of the applicants development with other existing shopping <br />centers in the Village. Roll Call, Ayes: Membrez, Demos, Eagles, <br />Kellett and Pope. Nays: V. Johnson and G. Johnson. <br /> <br />Planning File 660 - Review of Ordinance Relating to Day Care Centers <br /> <br />Mrs. Demos Moved and Mr. Kellett Seconded, that the review of <br />ordinance relating to Day Care Centers be laid over until the next <br />regular Commission meeting. Roll Call, Ayes: V. Johnson, Membrez, <br />Demos, Eagles, Kellett, G. Johnson and Pope. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 690 - Study of Noise Level at the Interchange of <br />Highways 36, 280 and 35 W <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. William Merritt, District 9 Engineer of the State Highway Depart- <br />ment, indicated that the Minnesota Highway Department has received <br />communications from the residents in the area of the noise problem and <br />that Highway Department representatives have been investigating the <br />problem. He stated that the Department is currently examining several <br />alternatives, but that it will not be a quick solution. The foremost <br />problem would be obtaining the monies to assist in the reduction of the <br />noise level. He indicated that the procedure to be followed would be: <br /> <br />1. Defining the problem <br />2. To determine what type of noise abatement treatment could be <br />utilized <br />3. To meet with Village officials and residents <br />4. To estimate the cost <br />5. To appropriate monies <br />
