<br />-2- <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Herman Jolmson inquired as to what the Highway Department was doing about <br />the noise problem that exists on the north side of this intersection. Mr. <br />McCrae indicated that they were not prepared at this time to make recommenda- <br />tions regarding alleviation of the noise problem on the north side of the <br />intersection. <br /> <br />Mrs. Kidd, 2224 Ustis, asked if the individual residents would be contacted <br />and consulted before property would be taken, etc. <br /> <br />Mr. McCrae responded that certainly the Highway Department would have discussions <br />with any property owner who would be affected by the proposed plan. <br /> <br />Mrs. Dilner asked when the families, whose homes were to be purchased, would <br />know for sure when the purchase \\Ould occur. <br /> <br />Mr. McCrae indicated that if the Village Council approves this proposed plan, <br />the design development and right-of-way purchase procedures would be started <br />soon thereafter. <br /> <br />Donna Fitzgerald, 2253 St. Croix, indicated that she was looking forward to <br />the completion of this work. <br /> <br />Mrs. Kidd indicated that her overall reaction was that the proposal is the <br />right approach, however, she was concerned about the relationship of the <br />proposed earth mound to the Fossum residence. <br /> <br />RecOImnendation <br /> <br />Mr. Membrez moved and Mr. Kellett seconded, that the Commission recoIIlllend <br />approval of the State Highway Department proposed plan for the abatement of <br />noise on the south side of the 36-280-35W intersection. Said plan would <br />include a combination of wooden barrier, concrete wall, and earth mound <br />construction. The Commission requests that the Minnesota Highway Department <br />continue to study the noise problem on the north side of the intersection of <br />highways 36-280-35W. Roll Call, Ayes: V. Jolmson, Membrez, Demos, Eagles, <br />Kellett, G. Johnson and Pope. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 724 - Twin City Freight Incorporated request for rezoning from <br />I-I to 1-2 and special use permit at 2582 Long Lake Road. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Lynch of Bather Ringrose Company representing Twin City Freight, <br />indicated that the property is presently zoned I -1. Twin City Freight is <br />requesting a rezoning to 1-2 and a special use permit for a truck terminal. <br />He stated that the proposed terminal consists of approximately 6,000 square <br />feet of office space and 35,000 square feet of dock and storage area. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Membrez indicated his concern with the fact that more truck terminals <br />are moving to Rosevi1le. He stated that the terminal provides very little <br />tax base and felt that the village should carefully consider further <br />construction of terminals within Roseville. <br /> <br />Mr. Vern Johnson stated that he sympathized with Mr. Membrez' s point of <br />view but that he doubted very seriously whether any land use with a higher <br />
