Nays~ none

Planning File 809 = Fire Station Site Selection - County Road 82 and Dale

Presentation

Howard Dah1grenj representing the cityOs consultant planners and architects, gave a brief
review of the history of the selection for a fire statierl siteo He indicated that the
major factors that are looked for in the selection of the site are the separation of the
site from existing single family homes, the drive through capability, a straight-out
drive when 1eavinq the station and parking for approximately 35 cars. He then presented
three site plans which would utilize the corner of 82 and Daleo Site 1 (located on the
NE corner of the intersection) was very tight and used all available area. Its shallow depth
necessitated a turn before the street and there are existing single family homes contiguous
to the site on two sideso Site 2 (SW corner of the subject intersection) had none of the
disadvantages as listed in Site L However, the availability of the site is not known at
this time. At this site there would be an apartment building immediately adjacent to the
site to the south. Site 3 (located on Concordia Academy property) would be situated
approximately 200 feet south of the subject intersection. This site meets all the criteria
used in determining a good site; hov/ever, it is again unknovtn whether this site could be
purchased.

Mr. Dahlgren indicated thatj for the general area of the intersection at County Road 82 and
Dale, Site 3 would be the best location for a proposed fire station.
