<br />Mr. Jerry Loftsgaarden indicated that this is the second time this sign request has come
<br />before the Planning Commission, He indicated that many people have had trouble finding
<br />the motel and that a sign placed on top of the building would be readily seen by all
<br />potential customerso He also indicated that a variance to height of a building was being
<br />requested as it had not been done so at the time of construction,
<br />
<br />Discussion
<br />
<br />Mro Grauel indicated that upon approaching the property from the south, the pylon sign is
<br />visible,
<br />
<br />Mr. G. Johnson stated that roof signs are prohibited by ordinance, He also indicated that
<br />while the pylon sign was visible from the south, it was shielded from the north 0
<br />
<br />Mr. Dahlgren stated that he felt the sign will be blocked from the north by a tree mass
<br />which is located north of the HOliday Inn and was concerned that what the applicant was
<br />requesting would correct the situationo
<br />
<br />Mr 0 Kellett indicated that the problem was to locate the sign so that patrons would have
<br />sufficient time to identify and use the correct exit from 1-3SW,

<br />Associates request for variance for sign placement at 2540 Cleveland Avenue, Roll Call,

<br />to investigate the possibilities of limiting the number of pylon signs per property or
<br />building to one having requests for any additional signs being heard before the Planning
<br />Commission and Council, Roll Call, Ayes: Cushing, V, Johnson, Go Johnson, Durgin,
<br />Kellett, Membrez, GraueL Nays: None,
