A large percentage of White Truck's business is drive-in business
from the freeway.

Discussion

Mr. Grauel felt it would be exploiting the sign ordinance to permit a sign as large as the
one proposed on a secondary street.

Mr, V. Johnson commented that it was not possible for all signs to be constructed so as to
permit them to be seen from freeways. He also stated that he believed the Commission at
the last meeting had indicated to the applicant that a request for a sign similar in height
and size to the Dodge Truck sign would be considered favorably by the Commission.

Mr. Membrez indicated that he would be inclined to vote for the variance.

Mr. Durgin agreed with the applicant that there was 1ndeed a problem of seeing the build~
ing from the highway but that he too was concerned about constructing a sign so large.

Recommendation

Mr. Grauel moved and Mr. V. Johnson seconded, that the Commission recommend
White Truck's request for variance to sign height, size and setback at 2845
Road, Roll Call, Ayes: Cushing, Durgin, G. Johnson, V.
