<br />-2- <br /> <br />Planning File 862 - Northwestern College request for variance which would permit five <br />students to reside in a two bedroom apartment at 2815, 2825 and <br />2835 North Pascal <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Harold Alford, Director of Business Affairs for Northwestern College, indicated that <br />the college presently has a lease for the buildings at 2815, 2825 and 2835 North Pascal <br />Avenue, He indicated that the college is in the third year of renting the apartments and <br />did not realize that only four unrelated persons were permitted to reside in a dwelling <br />unit, He stated that 5 days a week the residents of the apartments eat their meals at <br />school and on weekends prepare their own meals in the apartments, The college subsidizes <br />the cost of leasing the apartments because the student rental fees do not cover the entire <br />cost. <br /> <br />Mr. Alford commented that the college hopes to construct additional dormitories on their <br />campus within the next two years. depending on the availability of financing. etc. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr, G. Johnson moved and Mr, Durgin seconded, that the Commission recommend approval of <br />Northwestern College's request for variance which would permit five students to reside in <br />a two bedroom apartment at 2815, 2825 and 2835 North Pascal with the condition that the <br />variance expire on January I, 1978, or when the college terminates its lease for the <br />apartments, whichever occurs first. Roll Call, Ayes: Cushing, Durgin, G. Johnson~ <br />V, Johnson, Membrez and Grauel. Nays: None. Abstention: Kellett, <br /> <br />Planning Pile 863 - George Plank and Monroe Trapp request for vacation of right-of-way <br />(Fernwood from Sherr en Street to TH 36 and service land from <br />Fernwood east 250 feet) <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Plank indicated that he desires the right-of-way to he vacated so that it can become <br />part of his property, He stated that he understood that his taxes would probably increase <br />if the vacation were approved. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Grauel pointed out that in 1972, the City Council approved construction of a home <br />by Mr. Plank on Lots 6, 7 and 8, with the stipulation that there be no additional homes <br />constructed on the lots. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr. Kellett moved and Mr, Membrez seconded. that the Commission recommend approval of <br />George Plank's and Monroe Trapp's request for vacation of right-of-way (Pernwood from <br />Sherr en Street to TH 36 and service lane from Pernwood east 250 feet), Roll Call, Ayes <br />Cushing. Durgin, G, Johnson, V, Johnson, Kellett, Membrez and Grauel. Nays: None. <br />
