<br />able in the City and therefore, why does this property have to be rezoned?

<br />Mrso Pat Johnson, 2986 Mildred Drive, stated that the residents would like to retaln the
<br />integrity of the neighborhood and in order to do this, further expansion of the industrial
<br />area simply could not be permitted,

<br />Mr, Carl Fischer, 1940 County Road D, stated that he couldn't believe that a rez.oning to
<br />industrial use in this area would be permitted,
<br />
<br />Mr, Kroiss indicated that he would desire to plat the property for single family homes even
<br />if the industrial rezoning were not approved,
<br />

<br />Planning File 900 - Holiday Inn request for sign variances at 2540 North Cleveland Avenue

<br />Presentation
<br />
<br />Mr, Jerry Loftsgaarden, representing the Holiday Inn, indicated that a study had been
<br />conducted by a firm from Illinois regarding what height sign would be required to be
<br />visible from Highway 35W, As a result of that study the Holiday Inn is requesting a sign
<br />102 feet in height. The variance being requested is to height, size and number of pylons
<br />on a parcel,
<br />
<br />Mr, Lofstgaarden stated that the existing Holiday Inn sign on the west side of the buildlng
<br />would be removed if the variance for this sign were approved, He also indicated that the
<br />roof sign which had been approved previously by the City Council would not be put in place
<br />if the variance were approved,

<br />
<br />Mrs, Cushing indicated that she was sympathetic to the problem of visibility of the Holiday
<br />Inn from the freeway, but that she simply could not vote for a sign of this height,
<br />
<br />Recommendation

<br />Mr, Kell ett moved and Mr Mastel seconded, that the Commission recommend approval of
<br />Holiday Inn's request for variance to sign height, size and number of pylon signs at
<br />2540 North Cleveland Avenue, Roll Call, Ayes: Mastel, G, JohnsonJ Kellett and GraueL
