Nays: Kellett and Mastel.

Roll Call on motion as amended which reads that the Corrnnission recorrnnend
approval of First Federal Savings and Loan Association's request for approval
of development plans and varianc to setback and recommend denial of the
request for variance to the buffer zone requirement at 1705 County Road B-2
and further that consideration be given to construction of an acceleration lane
on County Road B-2 going west from the point where the exist from the driveup
teller's is planned. Roll Call, Ayes: Cushing, G. Johnson, V. Johnson,
Kellett, Rukavina, Mastel and Grauel. Nays: None.

Planning File 906 - Richard Schulze request for variance to sign setback at
2901 Snelling Avenue

Presentation

Mr. Richard Schulze, Manager of the Sound of MJsic Store, indicated that they
need better exposure for their operation. He stated that the variance is
needed primarily because the Arby's sign is located so far to the east and
would block the Sound of Music sign if it were placed in compliance with the
code requirements.

Discussion

Mr. G. Johnson indicated that the present location of the Color Tile sign,
also located on the property is very poor and very dangerous for cars attempt-
ing to park.

Mr. Richard Casey, Vice President of the Sound of M.1sic, indicated that Color
Tile has stated they do not desire to reIIDve their existing sign and that they
are not willing to share a pylon sign. He commented that the Sound of M.1sic
does not want another pylon sign in the middle of the parking lot such as
Color Tile.

Mr. V. Johnson commented that he would be more inclined to vote for variances
for a pylon having both Color Tile and Sound of M.1sic signs rather than two
separate pylon signs on the site.

Mr. Casey stated that the Sound of M.1sic had made many efforts to work with
the Color Tile parent corporation (Tandy) for sharing a sign but to date they
have been totally unsuccessful.

Mr. Grauel asked if the applicant would be willing to convey to the Tandy
Corporation, the Planning Commission concerns regarding the variance and attempt
to work out some solution with them.

Mr. Casey responded that they certainly would be willing to do that but was
not hopeful of being -successful.
