Johnson at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />P.ernbers present: Mastel, Rukavina, Dressler, G. Johnson, Sim:>ns, and V. Johnson. <br />CUshing arrived at 7:35 P.M. <br /> <br />~rs absent: None <br /> <br />Staff present: Council liaison A1 Kehr, Howard Dahlgren, Ed McGuire and <br />Steve North <br /> <br />Approv-al of Minutes <br /> <br />Mr. Rukavina rroved and Mr. Mastel seconded, that the minutes of the regular rreeting <br />of May 2, 1979, be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: Mastel, Rukavina, Dressler, G. <br />Johnson, Sirrons and V. Johnson. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 1191 - Fii Cave and Sons request for variance to sign setback. at <br />at 2489 Rice Street <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Dahlgren indicated that the applicant proposes to construct two pylon signs <br />on his property at the northwest corner of Rice Street and Transit Avenue. 'Ihe <br />signs are proposed to be located 22 feet from the property line on Pice Street. <br />'Ihe required setback is 30 feet. <br /> <br />Mr. Cave indicated there would be no signs on the building and that each of the <br />pylon signs would be 64 square feet in area and 20 feet in height. <br /> <br />Mr. Cave stated that he is requesting the variance so that the signs will not <br />interfere \\7i th the proposed parking lot. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Sim:ms corrrrented that if the base of the signs were solid v.lOOCl, as proposed, <br />it would interfere \vith the sight line for people backing out of the parking stalls. <br />Mr. Cave indicated that he would be willing to open up the bottom portion of the <br />sign so that people could back out of the stalls safely. <br /> <br />Hecomrendation <br /> <br />Mr. 11\::istel rroved and Mrs. Cushing seconded, that the Commission recorrm:md approval <br />of Fii Cave and Sons request for variance to sign setback at 2489 Rice Street. <br />Roll Call, Ayes: ]\llastel, Cushing, Rukavina, Dressler, G. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 1192 - John Strom request for division of lot at 2247 Victoria <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Dahlgren indicated that the applicant proposes to divide his parcel and create <br />two single family horre lots.
