Nays: None.

Planning File 1417 - Deluxe Check Printers, Inc. request to amend the zoning
ordinanoe by adding a special use in the B-1 (limited
business) zoning district.

Presentation

Mr. Dahlgren indicated Deluxe Check Printers is seeking to amend the zoning
ordinance by adding a special use in the B-1 district, which would provide for
"mail order sales and order processing offices, including in conjunction therewith
manufacture, assembly, storage, and shipment of consumer mail order products".
He indicated if the amendment were approved, Deluxe Check would apply for a
special use to have a mail order business in the Deluxe Check building at the
corner of Pascal and County Road B.

Mr. Steve Peterson, representing Deluxe Check, indicated they were seeking the
amendment, which would permit them to apply for a mail order business in their
facility. He stated there would be assembly of name and address stamps in a very
small portion of the building.

Dis cus s ion

Mrs. Dressler indicated Mr. Dahlgren had recommended that the amendment
include a limitation on the amount of materials that can be shipped in any
one day to one ton per 40,000 sq. ft. of building area. She asked Mr. Peterson
if this would create any problems for Deluxe Check.

Mr. Peterson indicated he was a little apprehensive about the limitation; but
without further study, couldn't respond.

Mr. Dahlgren suggested the limitation because the special use as proposed is
wide open. He felt there should be some limitation on what can occur in the
B-1 zoning district.

Mr. Dahlgren suggested that because this is proposed as a special use, the
amendment could be as proposed and add "subject to limitations which may be
imposed by the City Council".
