ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING

Wednesday, August 3, 1983

The August 3, 1983 meeting of the Roseville Planning Commission was called
to order by Chairman Rukavina at 7:30 p.m.

Members Present: Matson, Moeller, Wiski, Berry, Dressler, and Rukavina.

Members Absent: Johnson.

Staff Present: Howard Dahlgren, David Drown, and Ron Moorse.

Approval of Minutes

Dressler Moved and Matson Seconded that the minutes of the regular meeting
of July 6, 1983, be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: Matson, Moeller, Wiski,
Dressler, and Rukavina. Nays: None. Abstain: Berry, because she was
absent from the meeting.

Planning File 1450 - Mother Tucker's Food Experience request for special use
permit and variance to sign setback at 2350 Cleveland.

Presentation

Howard Dahlgren indicated the Mother Tucker organization proposes to construct
a full service restaurant at 2350 Cleveland. Mother Tucker's has also requested
a variance to allow placement of a sign within 15 feet of the street. Mr.
Dahlgren indicated that examination of the site plan suggests there is no
apparent reason why the sign cannot be set back the required 30 feet.

Discussion

Bob Matson inquired as to whether Mother Tucker's planned to offer service in the
outside patio area. Mr. Ted Cates, a representative of Mother Tucker's, stated
they do not plan to offer outside service at this time, but may in the future.
Matson inquired as to the location of the sign. Mr. Cates indicated they would
like to place the sign 15-20 feet from the street, although they have not
determined that a 30-foot setback would not be unacceptable. Mr. Cates
suggested that a mock-up of the sign be constructed on the site to enable
Mother Tucker's, City staff, and Commission members to determine whether a
variance is needed to provide adequate sight lines for the sign.

Moeller expressed concern that rooftop HVAC equipment would not have sufficient
screening. Mr. Cates indicated that if the parapet roof was not sufficient,
Mother Tucker's would add picket fence-type screening to the roof.

Dressler requested that Mother Tucker's bring a drawing of their new sign design
to the next Commission meeting.
