Mr. Dahlgren displayed two
alternative plans for a public park on the southern portion of the site.
A 7.76 acre site would allow 2 ballfields and one soccer field. This
alternative would require the City to purchase 1.28 acres, in addition to
the 7.76 acres, to build a parking lot for access from the west. A 6.47
acre site would require the loss of nine mature oak trees to accommodate the
ballfields.

Mr. Dahlgren also indicated the City received a proposal from Presbyterian
Homes on Wednesday, October 5, offering to dedicate 6 acres of land to the
City on the condition the City provide IRE's for the conversion of the
school site and approve an R-3 rezoning to a line south of the tennis
courts. The City would have to acquire land to the west in addition to
the six acres to allow the City's desired uses. The City would also need
time to determine whether its grant to purchase park land could be applied
to land to the west.
