Roseville Planning Commission
-9-

Recommendation

Matson Moved, and Dressler Seconded, that the Planning Commission recommend
that the procedure for allowing two living units in one house remain un-
changed. Roll Call, Ayes: Moeller, Dressler, and Matson. Nays: Berry,
Johnson, and Wiski.

Planning File 1497 - Study of liquor sales near public parks, schools, and churches.

Presentation

Mr. Dahlgren indicated that after studying the issue of liquor sales near
public parks, churches; and schools, it was found that many cities restrict
the location of liquor sales near churches and schools, but none restrict
liquor sales near parks. He suggested that the reason cities do not restrict
liquor sales near parks is that it has never become an issue. Cities have
probably never had a problem with liquor sales near parks.

Discussion

Berry indicated she was surprised that Roseville doesn't have restrictions
similar to other cities. Matson indicated he felt current controls and
safeguards are sufficient.

Recommendation

Matson Moved and Moeller Seconded that the Planning Commission inform the
Council that the Commission has reviewed the information regarding liquor
sales near public parks, schools, and churches; and that the Commission
recommends that the current procedures are sufficient to control liquor
sales. Roll Call, Ayes: Berry, Moeller, Dressler, Johnson, Matson, and
Wiski.

Other Business

Matson indicated he was very concerned about the traffic problem at the
intersection of Snelling Avenue and the frontage road near the proposed
Fuddrucker's site. He suggested City staff should work with MNjDOT to
determine whether there is a better solution to the traffic problem.

Recommendation

Matson Moved and Berry Seconded that the Planning Commission recommend
that City staff work with MNjDOT to solve the problems at the intersection
of Snelling Avenue and the frontage road at the proposed Fuddrucker's
site. Roll Call, Ayes: Berry, Moeller, Dressler, Johnson, Matson,
and Wiski. Nays: None.
