<br />Roseville Planning Commission M~eting <br />Wednesday, May 1, 1985 <br /> <br />The May 1, 1985 regular meeting of the Roseville Planning <br />Commission was called to order by Acting Chairman Moeller at 7:30 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Members present: Berry, Dressler, Johnson, DeBenedet and <br />Moeller. <br /> <br />Members absent: Matson and Wiski. <br /> <br />staff present: Planning Consultant Howard Dahgren, Assistant <br />City Engineer David Drown and Assistant City <br />Manager Steve North. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Berry moved, Dressler seconded that the minutes of the regular <br />meeting of April 3, 1985 be approved. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: Berry, Dressler, Johnson, DeBenedet and Moeller. <br /> <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />Plannlng File 1585 - King of Kings Lutheran Church application <br />for variance to curbing requirement at 2330 <br />North Dale. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Dahlgren indicated King of Kings Church <br />a new parking lot and is seeking a variance <br />than the concrete curbing required by code. <br />will have an asphalt surface. The existing <br />gravel surface without any curbing. <br /> <br />proposes to construct <br />to use asphalt rather <br />The proposed lot <br />parking lot has a <br /> <br />Mr. Dahlgren indicated the City has concluded concrete curbs are <br />the best because the asphalt does not hold up and is a poor <br />investment in the long term. <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Olson, representing King of Kings Church, indicated their <br />congregation has conducted a two-year fund raising effort for the <br />new parking lot. The new lot is needed to provide sufficient <br />parking for the membership and also for projected growth. There <br />are Sundays, and for other special events, when some parking <br />occurs on Dale street. He indicated using concrete curb rather <br />than asphalt would cost an additional $5,000, which the church <br />does not have. <br /> <br />Mr. Olson commented when additional money was available, they would <br />be willing to replace the asphalt with concrete curbing. The <br />existing lot will remain with a gravel surface for now, but the <br />church plans to asphalt the surface in the future. <br /> <br />Mr. Olson indicated he was not able to give a specific date for <br />doing the additional work. <br />
