Planning Commission Minutes
December 4, 1985

Page 7

Mr. Thompson proceeded to state the following.
1. Somebody should not ask for rezoning when they don't own the
property.

2. Woodbridge may be a good company, but the surveyors they
hired walked across his property without permission.

3. He is not convinced that the storm sewer capacity is
appropriate for increased runoff.

4. He also discussed the filling of a pond that had taken place
in front of his house, and he doesn't want that to happen
again.

Mr. Thompson also reiterated his opposition to moving.

Walter Brenner, 3050 Raymond, stated the area has been going
downhill for years. He thinks this development is very good, and
would be a great boost to the City.

Steinbring stated he is very worried about the traffic, and was
opposed to the project.

Mrs. Boehlke stated that the plan looks good, and she would not
have any problem living across from the development. She just
hopes there is a guarantee with respect to the landscaping
responsibilities. wiski pointed out that the development agreement
and final staff review provides a number of safeguards in that
respect.

Mrs. Boehlke was also worried about the traffic and parking in
the area. Johnson replied that often times for major events on
Fairview, such as a family reunion, the No Parking signs are
covered.

Robert Brown, 2972 Raymond, stated he supported the development.
The freeway and the R-1 zone are simply not compatible any more.

Roger Knutson, at 1330 Raymond, pointed out that he supported the
project as the freeway makes it very difficult to live in a
single family home in the area.

Unnamed, at 3095 Raymond, stated he likes the idea, and the area
does need a new look.

Al Modjeski, 3060 Raymond, stated that the area is becoming
somewhat of a slum, and property values are dropping. Therefore
even though he doesn't want to move, he is going to "bite the
bullet" and support the project.

Mr. Thompson stated he resents negative comments about the neigh-
borhood; he also thinks the area is just fine, and that
residents and the City Council should not be motivated by profit.
