Janisch stated that a widened intersection
would be constructed as part of the Snelling development.

Berry stated she thought the allowance should be made with respect
to the sidewalk, and that the dollar amount should be deposited.

Goedeke asked where the respective island would be after modifica-
tions on Snelling. Janisch replied, seventeen feet from the closest
lane of Snelling Avenue.

DeBenedet moved, Berry seconded, that the Saunders request for
Special Use Permit and variance at 2087 Snelling Avenue be approved
per plans submitted December 1, 1986, with the following conditions:

1. That the applicant deposit funds for the sidewalk with the City.

2. That the sign be of the specific size depicted on Photo C
without the "bucket" on top.

3. That the Kentucky Fried Chicken site not be a separate lot so as
to provide flexibility for future access for development on the
westerly half of the property.

4. That the final plans be subject to staff approval.

5. That a pedestrian easement be granted on the eastern ten feet of
the property.

Discussion
Maschka stated his concerns regarding the sidewalk deposit. Johnson
stated it is a City Ordinance, and this has been used quite
frequently in the City.

Roll Call, Ayes: DeBenedet, Stokes, Maschka, Goedeke, Moeller, Berry,
and Johnson.
Nays: None.

Planning File 1720
Long Cadillac request for sign variance at 2325 North Prior Avenue.

Presentation
Dahlgren discussed the site where the additional sign is proposed.
Two existing pylons are on the property now which are allowed; thus,
the variance is for the number of signs, not the size of the signs.
If this proposed third pylon were allowed, the total square footage
of all three signs would still be less than the total required in
the ordinance.

Mr. Long pointed out
company offers, it is
quality sales area.

that based on the type of
in their best interest to

sales that his
maintain a high
